Heidi Montag's Horoscope: New Bombshell Look Print E-mail
Monday, 25 January 2010

The Hills star Heidi Montag has recently been the subject of a media frenzy concerning her mental health. "Is she nuts?" is the subtext to many articles, notably People magazine's cover story last week that was headlined "Addicted to Plastic Surgery". The beautiful starlet felt she wasn't the best person she could be, and so underwent ten surgical operations in one day to improve her looks.

Heidi Montag was born with her Sun in perfectionist Virgo (September 15, 1986; Crested Butte, CO; time unknown), a placement that is given an eccentric twist by squaring Uranus, and feelings of inadequacy by the square to Chiron. The Sun-Chiron connection tends to overcompensate by becoming a superstar; it's the underlying psychological dynamic that pushed her to be as relevant and famous as her role model Britney Spears.

Heidi's Venus is in sexy Scorpio, where it's given a powerful urge for self-improvement by the conjunction with transformative Pluto. Mercury is found in aesthetically aware Libra, which is where she gets her ideas of beauty. On November 20, 2009, she underwent ten simultaneous plastic surgeries at a time when transiting Saturn and Pluto were squaring each other while aligned with her Mercury. Her Hollywood-inspired concept of beauty led to this radical restructuring.

Her entire being was undergoing change as well, celestially signified by the transit of Uranus opposite her Virgo Sun. Heidi Montag personifies (Sun) the generational group with a Chiron-Uranus opposition, which believes that imperfections and feelings of woundedness (Chiron) can be fixed with technology (Uranus). Transiting Saturn and Pluto will soon return to re-activate her Mercury, when we'll see if she believes her own message that "beauty is within".

Google Fights Censorship in China Print E-mail
Sunday, 17 January 2010
On January 12, Google announced that it would no longer censor search results in China, a stunning reversal in policy that could result in Google closing down its China operation. Google said its decision was based a "highly sophisticated and targeted attack" aimed at gathering information on human rights dissidents. Although several other corporations were attacked, only Google had the moral impulse to resist.

Google was founded* when the Sun was in analytical Virgo (September 4, 1998; 12 pm; Mountain View, CA). Mercury, the natural ruler of information, is conjunct the Midheaven, where it's financially enhanced by a conjunction with Venus, and given a moral compass by the close quincunx to Jupiter in Pisces. Mercury here has helped make Google the wealthiest, most recognized search engine in the world.

On July 19, 2005, Google announced that it was opening in China. At the time, transiting Uranus was opposing Google's Sun, signifying the breakthrough into a vast market area generally closed to outsiders. Transiting Pluto favorably trine natal Mercury suggested the successful expansion of its information enterprise. However, Pluto was also squaring natal Jupiter, and many observers criticized Google for not obeying its primary objective to "Do No Evil", which is the company slogan.

After four years, Google finally put its cyber foot down. Transiting Uranus was applying to Google's Jupiter (as P2 Sun opposed P2 Jupiter), implying an awakening of its primary objective. However, transiting Neptune was exactly opposite Google's Mercury (orb 0º01'), indicating its uncertain status in China. From a purely business perspective, transiting Pluto trine Google's Saturn in Taurus indicates a solid financial future.

The Eclipse, Mars and Neptune Hit the U.S. Horoscope Print E-mail
Sunday, 17 January 2010
A NewsScope reader noted the fascinating connection between last week's New Moon eclipse and the rise and fall of numerous broadcast personalities. NBC's cast of stand-up comics has become a joke in its own right, with Conan O'Brien threatening to go to FOX as Jay Leno returns to the 11:35 pm slot. And over at FOX, Sara Palin began her stint as a political commentator.

Why the eclipse should affect U.S. media personalities becomes clear when considering the U.S. Scorpio Rising horoscope (July 4, 2:21 pm; Philadelphia). This chart's ruling planet is Pluto, found in the third house of news and information. Pluto here symbolizes the fascinating, charismatic media personalities that shape public opinion and perceptions. The eclipse took place at 25º Capricorn, only 2º from the U.S. Pluto.

Also last week, transiting Mars was conjunct the U.S. Midheaven when Obama ordered the Pentagon to send troops into Haiti. The U.S. military achieved some honor (Midheaven) by being the only force in the region with the power and agility to take over. Mars also rules sports, and with Neptune (the planet of scandal) near the U.S. Moon, Mark McGwire admitted to using steroids. The last time Mars was on the Midheaven was when Tiger Woods' star fell.

And speaking of Neptunian scandals, last Friday, as Neptune came within 1/4 degree of the U.S. Moon, Johnson & Johnson issued a massive recall of Tylenol and related over-the-counter drugs because of a smelly mold in the product. Neptune, the natural ruler of drugs, is also the unseen force behind J&J's bribing of Omnicare pharmacists to over-recommend Risperdal to their many elderly patients, a story just now emerging.
