Aries, March 20 to April 19

Aries glyph

  • Symbol: Ram
  • Element: Fire
  • Quality: Cardinal
  • House: 1st, Self
  • Planet: Mars, action
  • Color: Red
  • Body Part: Head
  • Semi-precious stone: Carnelian

Aries starts on March 20, the Spring Equinox. That's the date that the Earth's equator passes the ecliptic, the Sun's orbit, and starts to shine on the Northern Hemisphere. A long time ago, this always happened in the constellation Aries, but due to the Earth's wobble it now (technically) happens in the constellation Pisces.

Aries is headstrong, assertive, enterprising, and adventurous. The sign of the Ram is ready to pioneer a new path. When you want to travel to uncharted territory, call upon an Aries. Their strong will power can help them through difficult challenges.

Their passionate approach to life can be both their strength and their weakness. The problem comes when it is time to follow through on a project. Many Aries become enamored with a new challenge, then leave the unfinished project to go on to new adventures. An example would be an Aries who has ten books on the coffee table, having read a couple of chapters out of each one.

On the spiritual level, Aries helps people to burst through membranes of inertia. Aries stimulates you to try something new. Aries represents athletics, pioneers, and courage.

Parts of the body include the head and the blood.

Mars

Mars glyphMars is the "ruling planet" of Aries. The month of March is named after Mars. Mars indicates your power, aggressions, and initiative. Its red color is the result of high iron content, causing it to be interpreted by the ancient Babylonians as firey and warlike.

Mars was the Roman god of war, and Ares the god of agriculture.

As a result, the Red Planet has always been a favorite in science fiction, with scores of books written about violent martian attacks, as well as our colonizing of the planet.

The warrior planet helps you to achieve your ambitions in the world. On the positive level, you assert yourself to manifest core level goals. Negatively, it can be repressed anger, the need to win at any cost, or excessive reliance on the physical (like sex without love).

Mars gets you moving towards your goals. The natal house placement of Mars in your chart tells you where you direct your ambition. A second house Mars in Taurus may like to remodel houses in order to sell them for a substantial profit. A sixth house Mars in Taurus may become a massage therapist in order to earn a living healing others.

Mars is associated with headaches, cuts, gunshot wounds, burns, rashes, and red blood cells.

The First House, Self

The First House,The First House describes your outward behavior. It involves your disposition, appearance, manners, and sense of self.  The first house indicates your outlook on life and helps you to project your unique talents into the world. It is governed by Aries.

Tony Dovolani from Dancing with the Stars Interviews Alicia

I was proud to recently showcase my Astrology Jewelry on the famed Paramount Studios backlot in Hollywood, California at an invitation-only celebrity event that is recognized as one of the hottest tickets in town for pre-Oscar festivities.

I was invited to adorn some 50 celebrities with my Custom Horoscope Jewelry. My signature Horoscope Necklace was custom-made to order using each celebrity’s date, time and place of birth so that all the planets, houses and zodiac constellations are positioned exactly as they were the moment the celebrity was born.

Each celebrity chose the length, Sun, color palette and clasp of the necklace to match his or her taste and Zodiac sign. Tony Dovolani from DWTS chose a 22" Cancer Necklace.  I love what he says about his dad in the video!

SuperMoon 2011

What It Is, What It Means
© 2011 by Richard Nolle

Clearly there's a lot of confusion about what's really a SuperMoon. I know, because I created and defined the term in an article published over 30 years ago. When I see people misrepresenting the idea, not really understanding it at all, I feel impelled - not compelled - to try and set the record straight. Words mean things, after all . . . For example, referring to the date of the last SuperMoon as 18 years ago - as several media reports are doing lately - is completely wrong.

There are 4-6 SuperMoons a year on average. The one on March 19, 2011 is in fact the closest SuperMoon of the year, but it's not by any means the first one in 18 years, nor even the first extreme SuperMoon in 18 years.

The truth is, March 19 will be the second SuperMoon this year, and we only have to go back to January 30, 2010 to find the last example of an extreme SuperMoon; as revealed in my tables published in the last century. There was a SuperMoon in effect February 12-21 this year.

And I'm sure you're aware of the Christchurch earthquake that practically destroyed that city on the last day of that interval.

Spring Equinox 2011

Aries Ingress 2011

By David Ockrassa

This year's Aries Ingress is on March 20th, at 7:20 PM for the East Coast of the US, making it 4:20 PM on the West. In my last Ingress newsletter (Cancer 2010 ) I wrote about numerous configurations pressuring us to make changes, about emotional tension and how the Jupiter - Uranus conjunction due to its square to many of the other active participants in that chart would make the changes seem to be unexpected.

Case in point is the Solar Eclipse that happened on Jan. 4th of this year. The path of visibility was through much of North Africa. The seemingly sudden, unexpected changes there have been a major part of the news for the past couple of months.
