At the end of May, I went to New Orleans with over 1000 astrologers from around the world. Wandering Star had a booth in the Marketplace, and I got to make jewelry for both my friends & colleagues, and many local residents!
I even made a custom necklace for my friend Lesley, and instead of using her birth info, she had me make it for a moment when she had a breakthrough epiphany about her life! I can’t wait to see how wearing the necklace helps her stay grounded in her new perspective.
Even stronger than the business side was the social fun. Sam Bowling and I visited Marie Laveau’s tombs (both of them), to ask for her juju as well as say thanks (she helped me 20 years ago!). The food…oh, the food…I ate crawfish, turtle soup, and cioppino to die for. And I haven’t gone shopping like that in ages!
I got to spend a lot of good quality time with friends old and new including (but not limited to, so don’t feel left out!) Donna, Lesley, Pat, Mark, Asia, Emily & Rick, and Susan. I even got to meet several customers in person who have ordered jewelry online, like Aurora.
MY favorite part was the “Venus Flash Mob.” At every astrology conference I do some sort of prank. This year, with the help of the AstroDivas, I instigated a Flash Mob at the Regulus Awards Banquet. We danced to Bananarama’s Venus. Here’s a clip of Donna’s video from YouTube (I’m in the brown and orange, on the right in the still and front left during the dance):
The next 4 years, until the next UAC, won’t go by fast enough!
