Mercury
Mars symbol

Mercury is associated with travel, intellect, logic and communication skills. Mercury represents quick trips, short classes, siblings, and transportation.

A day on Mercury is twice as long as its year! Mercury rotates extremely slowly but revolves around the Sun in slightly less than 88 days.

Approximately 3 times a year, Mercury goes into retrograde, a 3-week period when Mercury looks like it's going backwards across the sky. When this happens, your equipment will break, you'll have misunderstandings, and travel will be exasperating.

3rd House
3rd House

The Third House, ruled by Gemini, contains your siblings, communication, transportation, and self-expression. It helps you to open your mind to a variety of new ideas, then to mold those thoughts into a form that can be expressed in the world.

This is one of the places in the chart to look at the nervous system, respiratory ailments, and problems like stuttering.

Top 5 Astro Events for May

1. A Fire Grand Trine connecting Jupiter, Saturn, and Ceres is exact on May 5-6, bringing a bountiful phase of immense creativity in community, state, and international affairs. Businesses prosper as environmental initiatives take hold. Conversely, the U.S. progressed Mars is activated, possibly leading to some domestic violence or terrorist event (as transiting Mars squares the U.S. Mars).

2. Jupiter squares Uranus on May 10, a progress-oriented dynamic that changes the status quo across social, cultural, and political horizons, and is especially favorable for new technologies. Then, on May 11 Mars activates the Solar Eclipse of March 19, unleashing enormous potential for a major geopolitical event, likely involving terrorism or military affairs.

3. Mars squares Pluto on May 13, but is in effect from May 9 to 13, marking these five days with political, military, and corporate showdowns. Enemies square off using hardball tactics. Only the strongest survive. Since these two planets connect Sagittarius and Pisces, religious strife becomes the global brain's main headache.

4. Neptune turns retrograde on May 24 in Aquarius while quincunx (150º) the U.S. Neptune. This double Neptune-influence emphasizes scandals, lost causes, fraud, and disillusionment. Watch for major developments in the oil and pharmaceutical industries. Fast-moving Mercury trines Neptune while conjunct the U.S. Mars on May 22, leading to big developments in the U.S. occupation of Iraq and/or with Iran.

5. The Sun forms an octile (45º) to Venus on May 29, but is an active vector during the entire last week of May. This influence opens the door for peacemaking gestures, and is especially favorable for women and celebrities. This astro-event foreshadows the U.S. progressed Venus trine the Sun in November, so watch for the seeds of budding developments.
