The Moon is the ruling planet of the sign Cancer in the fourth house. The Moon embodies your feelings and emotions. Just as the moon cycles in phases around the earth, so too are your emotions likely to go through phases.
If you know the house that your natal moon falls in, you will know what area of your life is likely to go through phases. The moon is associated with the mother, nurturing, family, and your ability to tap into the feelings of others. The moon rules the public as well. This is because the intuitive nature of the moon helps you to sense what the world around you is feeling.
The sign the moon was in at your birth will help you know how you express your feelings. In an intellectual air sign like Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius, you may have difficulty tuning into your own emotions. However, it can make you quite good at counseling others because you have the ability to detach emotionally. In water signs like Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces, you may be highly in tune with the emotional undercurrents of life. However, you may need to go off in private to separate your feelings from the emotions of those around you.

The Fourth House represents home, family, parenting, traditions, and your general attitude about where & how you live.
Ruled by Cancer, it is the place of seeking emotional security. The difficulty is that to find true emotional security, you must face your insecurities.
How this will manifest in your life depends on the sign on its cusp. A Taurus fourth house cusp may find security in owning a home, while a Sagittarius may believe that "home is where the heart is."
Information regarding your early childhood can be found in the fourth house. An Aquarius fourth house cusp, for example, may indicate a home with unusual circumstances. This could include moving frequently, eccentric visitors, adoptions, or unusual family relationships.
Most astrologers believe that the fourth house represents the mother, but it can more accurately be said that the fourth house indicates how you obtain your nurturing. A Cancer fourth house may prefer a home cooked meal. A Sagittarius fourth house may feel completely at home cooking a meal over a campfire stove.
Because the fourth house is Cardinal or "angular," its emotional undercurrents can become quite complicated. The 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses are action-oriented and add to the complex dynamics of your chart.

Did you look up on June 26-27? If you turned your gaze to the heavens, you would have seen Mercury, Venus and Saturn align in Cancer, in a conjunction about the width of your pinky.
Normally, when Mercury and Venus converge, conversations run deep, infatuations develop, and feelings are explored. Invite Saturn to the party, though, and these meaningful interpersonal explorations take on new ramifications. In Cancer, all this will likely have to do with your family or home in some way.
You may have found yourself confronting your demons with the help of a supportive friend. Or, a conversation caused you to have your illusions shattered. Or maybe your plans to get together with friends didn't work out as expected.
Here's an example of how it manifested for me: I spent my weekend working at a bluegrass music festival as a camping coordinator (to put it in Cancerian terms, I was the Camp Mom). I spent three days wandering through the campgrounds reminding patrons (Mercury) about the venue's rules (Saturn) in a friendly way (Venus). We all had a great time (Venus) listening to music (Mercury), but I had to work my butt off (Saturn) to keep the concertgoers safe and happy.
On July 18, go out and have some fun. Several Grand Fire Trines will occur simultaneously when Mercury and Venus (in Leo) align with the Moon & Pluto (in Sagittarius), and the North Node and Mars (in Aries). Get out of the house, play hookey from work, and do something you've always wanted to do. Make s--t happen! :-)

Aspects
In an Astrology Chart, the planets have an additional dimension. Their geometric angles to each other also influence your personality.
Aspects represent stresses, tensions, and harmonious relationships between the different parts of your life. A challenging aspect between two planets can motivate you to accomplish great things in life, or you can hide under the covers. Harmonious aspects can help you to express life creatively; or, you can get lazy because the planets involved flow so easily that you decide to just kick back and do nothing. All astrology charts have a combination of challenging and harmonious aspects.

Trine
Planets that are 120 degrees apart from each other are said to be in a trine. When you divide a circle by three, you get a shape that looks like a triangle, hence the term trine.
Planets in Trine are in the same element:
- Water signs Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces
- Earth signs Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
- Fire signs Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius
- Air signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.
It only takes two planets to be in a Trine. When three planets form a complete triangle, it's called a Grand Trine. Frequently astrologers will refer to it as a "Grand Water Trine," letting you know which signs the planets are in.
Harmony and flow are characteristics of the trine. There's an easygoing relationship between planets in trine. They support each other, providing areas of calm within the storm.
If you have many trines in your natal chart, however, you may be prone to laziness or lack of achievement. It's the challenges in life that cause us to learn and grow!
A relationship between the Sun in Pisces and the Moon in Cancer would be called a trine. The basic vitality of the life force-giving Sun would be in harmony with the emotions of the Moon. |
