The Return of the X Files
Secret files from the X Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory were
discovered last Friday under highly suspicious circumstances. The files,
contained on two computer hard drives, have been missing since at least May
7, but were only reported missing a week ago.
Regular readers of NewsScope were ready for this kind of national security
issue since the astrological indicators were described last week: "Watch
between now and June 20 when Saturn forms it's exact square to the U.S. Moon
for the most significant confrontations, threats, and actual attacks on
national security." From this marker, the astrologer can dismiss the claim by
some officials that the files were merely misplaced.
For another astrological angle on this situation, have a second look at the
foundation horoscope for Los Alamos (November 16, 1942; 4 pm; Los Alamos,
NM), first presented in NewsScope's May 22 column. Saturn, the natural ruler
of management and structured organizations, is being challenged by an
opposition from penetrating Pluto. Pluto first opposed this Saturn last year
when American nuclear scientist Wen Ho Lee was accused of spying for China.
Now another potential mole has been discovered. The FBI is conducting
polygraph tests, and the top six managers at Los Alamos have been placed on
administrative leave. Transiting Pluto only gets closer and more intensely
related to the Los Alamos Saturn over the next few months. We can expect a
growing debacle over these mysterious X Files.
Sunrise Over Korea
After decades of unending, bitter conflict, leaders from North and South
Korea met at an historic summit last week to make friends and promote the
process of reunification. The border between the two Koreas has long been one
of the most bizarre and dangerous places on Spaceship Earth, and the last
deadly frontier of the Cold War.
The Korean War erupted on June 25, 1950 one Chiron cycle ago. In the time it
took Chiron, frequently known as the Wounded Healer, to make one orbit around
the Sun, the divided countries have come full circle to heal old wounds. Now
Chiron is accompanied by Pluto, the planet associated with survival and
regeneration. North Korea's extreme economic crises has led to massive
starvation while South Korea's robust economy makes it a prominent player
among the Asian tigers.
Much credit for the summit has been given to both North Korea's reclusive
premier Kim Jong Il and South Korea's President Kim Dae-jong. The Kims are as
different as the two Koreas, but both are survivors. Kim Jong Il (b. February
16, 1942) has the classic dictator aspect of the Sun square Uranus, now being
activated by the epochal Jupiter-Saturn conjunction.
Kim Dae-jong (b. January 6, 1924) arrived at the head of South Korea's
government following many assassination attempts and covert harassment as the
leader of a vocal opposition party. This surviving instinct can be seen in
his Sun opposite Pluto. Dae-jong is favorably aligned with North Korea's
leadership since his kind-hearted, paternalistic Ceres is conjunct Jong Il's
Sun. The meeting is like the return of the prodigal son.
Phil Jackson, New Age Champion
Los Angeles Lakers' coach Phil Jackson is a living zen paradox. On the one
hand, he is establishing a second NBA dynasty with superstars Shaquille
O'Neil and Kobe Bryant in one of the most competitive, big-money games on the
planet. Then, he routinely talks about spiritual lessons, taking
transcendental mysticism and techniques from Eastern, Indian, and New Age
philosophies.
Phil Jackson was born an analytical Virgo (September 17, 1945; 5:40 pm; Deer
Lodge, MT), with his Moon in the team player sign of Aquarius. Jackson's
willingness, even eagerness to try radical or unusual approaches to coaching
can be seen in the Sun and Mercury's square to evolutionary Uranus. The
synthesis of New Age selflessness and compassion with the arrogance and
personal power of basketball superstars has become Jackson's personal calling
card.
Competitive Mars dominates his horoscope by its conjunction to the north
node. According to esoteric astrology, Mars here represents a calling, a path
that needs to be taken to achieve one's higher destiny. Mars is placed in the
5th house of sports where it receives a major challenging square from the
religious planets Jupiter and Neptune.
Jackson's entire personal identity is wrapped up in this conflict since these
three planets form exact aspects to his Aquarius Ascendant. Aquarius is known
for its association with the New Age, although in the basketball world it
tends to manifest as a team player. Jackson got Shaq and Kobe to work
together by using a favorite Hopi saying: "One finger can't lift a pebble."
