Pakistan's Nuclear Arsenal
As Americans dither over Iraq, events in Pakistan are rapidly
heating up. Last Wednesday, army commandos launched a bloody raid
on the Red Mosque in Islamabad, which was being held by Islamic
extremists. A few days later, Osama bin Laden's chief lieutenant,
hiding out in North Waziristan, issued a jihad against President
Musharraf, who was already under tremendous pressure following
his dismissal of a popular Chief Justice.
Pakistan's horoscope (August 15, 1947; 12 am; Karachi) accurately
reflects the uncertainty around the current leadership. The Sun
in Leo describes the imperial power often assumed by Pakistan's
leaders. Over the past few months, transiting Saturn has been heading
for its conjunction with Pakistan's Sun, which provided the celestial
pressure for Musharraf to do something about Islamic extremism
in his country. Neptune is in a long-term opposition.
Musharraf came to power on October 12, 1999 in a bloodless coup,
as Pakistan's progressed Midheaven formed a precise square to natal
Uranus (orb 0º05'). Also, transiting Mars was at 26º Sagittarius,
opposite Pakistan's Uranus. This degree zone forms a hotspot in
Pakistan's chart, which has been under siege from transiting Pluto
over the last two years.
Currently, general elections are scheduled for October 11, 2007.
However, with transiting Uranus forming a perfect quincunx to Pakistan's
Venus (the ruler of the horoscope), and Mercury turning retrograde
on that very date, there's a good chance the elections will be
postponed. Watch for escalating violence and pivotal events in
early September, as Pluto turns direct while on Pakistan's 26º
hotspot. Many observers are concerned that Islamic extremists could
take over, and seize control of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.
The D.C. Madam
Last week, the D.C. Madam scandal reached another milestone when
Louisiana Senator David Vitter issued a formal apology for using
her escort services. Federal prosecutors have charged Deborah Jeane
Palfrey with running a prostitution ring, and last Monday she released
the telephone numbers of her 15,000 Beltway clients. Two months
ago, Deputy Secretary of State Randall Tobias resigned after his
name was discovered in her black book.
Ms. Palfrey was born (March 18, 1956; 11:55 am*; North Charleroi,
PA) with her Pisces Sun prominently placed in the tenth house of
business. Her position in the business world is strongly supported
by her Sun's trines to Saturn and Uranus, but given a wild card

describes the VIP names in her black book. Transiting Saturn was
conjunct Jupiter last Monday when she posted the scandalous contents
on her web site.
Also last week, transiting Uranus and Pallas turned retrograde
on her Midheaven, showing that her shocking (Uranus) revelation
was a politically strategic move (Pallas). Transiting Uranus turns
direct on November 23 as it squares her talkative Gemini Moon (the
ruler of her chart), which is located in the twelfth house of secrets.

Victoria Beckham: Coming to America
Footballer David Beckham, his wife Victoria, and their three kids
made their long-anticipated Los Angeles touchdown last Thursday,
where they were greeted by an army of reporters, photographers,
and well-wishers. As Americans braced themselves for the re-birth
of soccer and the jet-setting lifestyle of one of Europe's most
famous couples, David accepted his new jersey (magical #23), while
Victoria made the rounds of the talk shows.
Victoria Beckham was born with her Sun in assertive Aries near
