Hillary in 2008
A NewsScope reader thought last
week's article on the GOP debate was much more interesting than the April
30 column on the Democrats' debate, because "you just assume Hillary will be our next
President." True enough, I didn't give the many reasons why
I think Hillary will win, because the relevant factors* are complex
and numerous. What makes for a winner?
Essential to making an accurate forecast is an accurate birth time.
A reader wanted a prediction on the American Idol contest (now
in the closing weeks), but with only the finalists' birth dates
available, the outcome can only be speculative. An accurate birth
time tells the astrologer where the angles are (the Midheaven and
Ascendant, and their opposite points), which ground the soul's
experience in the manifest world.
For a politician, the natal horoscope must have strong connections
to the national horoscope, otherwise the individual's personality
and policies don't resonate with the national agenda. In Hillary's
case (October 27, 1946; 8:00 am; Chicago), her Sun in Scorpio is
closely trine the U.S. Venus, and widely conjunct the U.S. Scorpio
Ascendant. Also, her Uranus and progressed Ceres are favorably
linked to the U.S. Moon, giving her popular support.
A complete analysis includes running the progressions and outer
planet transits for the individual and the nation. Here's just
one facet of that analysis: in the U.S. horoscope, progressed Venus
just formed a trine to the Leo Midheaven, while the progressed
Sun is nearing a trine to natal Venus. This double Venus influence
favors female politicians, and especially Hillary, with her Sun
so closely connected to the U.S. Venus.
Tony Blair gives way to Gordon Brown
Last Thursday, Prime Minister Tony Blair announced that he would
step down on June 27, after over ten years at the post. Blair endorsed
Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, as his successor,
calling him "an extraordinary and rare talent." Then,
as Blair embarked on his farewell tour, Brown began campaigning
for the leadership of the Labour Party.
These transition points in British politics give the astrologer
an opportunity to verify the importance of the angles. Blair (May
6, 1953; 6:10 am; Edinburgh) came to power on May 1, 1997 when
his Labour Party won a landslide victory over the Conservative
Party, as transiting Pluto was exactly conjunct his Descendant.
Blair announced his exit as transiting Uranus was exactly (to-the-minute)
conjunct his progressed Midheaven.
Like Blair, Gordon Brown (February 20, 1951; 8:40 am; Giffnock,
UK) was born with his Sun in the twelfth house, where it forms
an exact sextile to Chiron near his Midheaven. Since transiting
Pluto will soon be entering Capricorn where it conjoins Brown's
Chiron, we can expect that "healing the wounds" from
British involvement in Iraq will be one of his major themes.
According to a popular British story, Blair and Brown struck a
deal back in 1994 to share the leadership. Not until last Friday
did Blair follow up on their accord, but the time is right astrologically.
Brown's progressed Midheaven and Ceres have just come together
at 0º Pisces, where they form an exact conjunction with his Pisces
Sun. This is the celestial tide that brings in new leaders.
American Idol Finalists
Each of American Idol's three finalists returned to their hometowns
last week, where they were greeted by thousands of fans, parades,
and special honors. Which one will be the last standing on May
23 when the winner is announced? This week, Blake Lewis (July 21,
1981) will likely be ousted, since transiting Mars opposes his
Jupiter-Saturn conjunction and squares his own Mars.
Melinda Doolitle was born with her Sun in expansive Sagittarius
(December 1, 1977; Brentwood, TN; time unknown), where it's blessed
by a conjunction with transcendent Neptune on one side, and given
maternal guidance from a conjunction with Ceres on the other side.
These fiery planets are bolstered by trines to her Moon and Mars
in Leo, but given a dose of humility by the square to Saturn in
modest Virgo.
Jordin Sparks has her Capricorn Sun (December 22, 1989; Phoenix,
AZ; time unknown) conjunct electrifying Uranus, an exciting and
expressive combination. Her Sun is also closely aspecting Ceres,
describing the supportive role her parents have played in her fledgling
career. Jordin and Melinda were born exactly one Jupiter cycle
apart, with both having Jupiter exalted in the family sign of Cancer.
Jupiter turns direct on August 6 while exactly conjunct Melinda's
Sun, so we know she will be doing well in the near future. Transiting
Uranus is currently sextile Jordin's progressed Sun, also very
favorable. However, transiting Saturn is heading into a quincunx
with her Mercury, perhaps indicating the kind of disappointment
that comes with second place. In any case, in 2008 transiting Pluto
will be conjunct Melinda's well-placed Mercury and Jordin's Sun,
reflecting growing fame for both.
