New York Lottery Draws 9-1-1
"I'm a bit surprised, but I wouldn't characterize it as bizarre" said one
probability expert. Other numbers experts explained away the phenomenon by
noting that there's a 1-in-1000 chance* that a specific number could come up
on any given day. New York State Lottery officials said that 5,631 winning
tickets for the straight 9-1-1 combination were sold for the September 11
drawing.
The "lucky" numbers were drawn at 7:32 pm (September 11, 2002; New York
City), and the horoscope for this event reveals the underlying celestial
forces at play. With Pisces Rising, Neptune is the ruler of the chart.
Neptune connects the mysterious, transpersonal images between human psyches,
often associated with telepathy, but apparently psychokinesis as well. In
this case, the collective focus on 9-1-1 had some fortune attached to it,
shown by Neptune's opposition to beneficial Jupiter.
The 9-1-1 lottery has national significance, and is reflected in this
Jupiter-Neptune polarity being exactly square the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant.
Coincidences and other shape-shifting events most often manifest when three
or more planets align at the same time. In this case, transiting Mars was in
the same degree as the Jupiter-Neptune opposition, with all three making
precise connections to the U.S. horoscope.
A similar set of circumstances occurred last year when Flight 587 departed
from New Jersey and crashed in Queens, New York. That evening the numbers
5-8-7 came up in New Jersey's Lottery (November 12, 2001; 7:56 pm; Trenton,
NJ). This horoscope likewise shows a strong Neptune influence, with Venus and
Mercury in Scorpio (conjunct the U.S. Ascendant) and squaring Neptune.
Neptune shows us that there's more to our perceived reality than meets the
eye.
Iraq Remains Defiant
President Bush's eloquent, forceful speech to the United Nations last week
gave the world body an ultimatum: either force Iraq to comply with U.N.
mandates, or the United States will intervene with military force. By working
with the global community, Bush lessened the likelihood that other countries
will make unilateral interventions, such as India going into Pakistan to
destroy that country's nuclear weapons.
Over this coming week militant Mars in Virgo will be squaring off with Pluto,
an intensely forceful, often hostile aspect that will be exact on September
22 at 4:09 am EDT (1:09 am PDT). Under these celestial vibrations we can
expect that Iraq will remain defiant, and prohibit UN arms inspectors to
return.
Iraq's horoscope (August 23, 1921; 6:00 am; Baghdad; see NewsScope 9/02/02
for more) provides a timetable for the coming clash. Astrologers should note
transiting Jupiter's conjunction to Iraq's Mars on October 4 takes place
about the same time as the progressed Moon in Aries squares Pluto (October
1), marking the first week of October as a time for action. Also Mercury
turns direct while squaring Saturn on October 6, as the ultimatum runs out.
Several major astro-events take place in February implying a significant
turning point. Chief among these is transiting Uranus opposing Iraq's Sun, an
indicator suggesting Saddam Hussein's fall from power. By 2005 Iraq will be
experiencing its Uranus Return, an event recently experienced by Mexico and
Russia which were both created in 1917. Their Uranus Returns in 2001
coincided with major political reforms led by their dynamic, new leaders
Vicente Fox and Vladimir Putin.
Christopher Reeve
Superman star Christopher Reeve has regained some movement and sensation in
his hands and feet following three years of innovative therapy. Seven years
ago a horse riding accident left him paralyzed from the neck down, but by
following a program of electrically stimulating muscles combined with
repetitive motion exercises, Reeve can now breathe on his own for about 90
minutes.
Christopher Reeve was born with heroic Leo Rising (September 25, 1952; 3:12
am; New York, NY), and the super planet Pluto right on his Ascendant. All
those born with Pluto in Leo may be said to have an inner Superman. As
astrologer Steven Forrest writes about this placement "Driven by the need for
approval and applause, many will make fools of themselves, extending in
directions that are unnatural to themselves."
Most people get a handle on their inner Superman, and realize their need for
fame and glory doesn't match their abilities. However, in Reeve's case he has
Pluto powerfully strengthened by a trine to Mars in adventurous Sagittarius.
His Superman image fits the underlying potential, something that
cinematographers recognized and promoted. And for the wounded, Mars-Pluto
aspects can be impressively regenerative.
Over the last two years transiting Saturn and Pluto have been bearing down on
his Moon while he worked on his exercises. Now transiting Pluto is nearing
his natal Mars, giving a tremendous boost to his already intense willpower.
This year he experiences his Chiron Return, and Reeve is becoming an
international symbol for hope, a genuine Wounded Healer. "To be able to feel
just the lightest touch is really a gift," he says.
* In their rush to rationalize this "coincidence," scientists neglected to
mention that for the number 9-1-1 to come up specifically on September 11,
these odds should be multiplied by 365, or 1-in-365,000.
In the NJ Lottery, Cancer is Rising, making the Moon the ruling planet. The
Moon is 0 degrees and 03 minutes from forming an exact tri-octile
(sesquiquadrate, or 135 degree aspect) to Neptune. Also, Neptune is conjunct
Mars which forms an exact inconjunct (150 degree aspect) to the Ascendant.
