The Next Front in the New World Order

Last week Pentagon officials announced that about 650 U.S. soldiers are being
sent to the Philippines to help the Philippine army fight a terrorist group
linked to the Al Qaeda network. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld said the
deployment underscores the Bush administration's intention to fight terrorism
on a global scale, and that the U.S. is now actively exploring its options in
Malaysia, Singapore, Yemen, Somalia, and Indonesia.

These developments occur as transiting Mars enters Aries, and activates the
progressed U.S. Midheaven at the Aries Point*. The progressed Midheaven
covers a 30-year cycle which we are now just beginning. Mars, as the
planetary ruler of Aries, shows where much of the activity is generated. In
the U.S. Scorpio Rising horoscope, progressed Mars is in the twelfth house of
secret enemies, i.e. terrorists.

With the national horoscope now dominated by bold, pioneering Aries, the U.S.
is embarking on a New World Order, the one George Bush (#41) articulated
during the Persian Gulf War. The strategy is to seek alliances wherever
possible, but otherwise fearlessly forging a new path across the global
village. Last week Secretary of State Colin Powell, an Aries, took the lead
by diffusing the deadly India-Pakistan dispute.

Iran, with its Aries Moon conjunct an Aries Ascendant (February 1, 1979; 9:30
am; Tehran), is becoming a pivotal player now. Iran has been funding militant
supplies and forces against Israel and the new Afghanistan government. Watch
over the next week for important developments as transiting Mars arrives at
Iran's Ascendant on January 23 and its Moon on January 28.

Israeli Tanks Surround Arafat

Following a week of bloody attacks and reprisals in the tense
Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Israeli tanks rumbled to within 30 yards of
Yasser Arafat's headquarters last week with the implicit warning that his
refusal or inability to rein in militants may soon end his rule. On Friday
Israel's U.S.-supplied F-16 warplanes destroyed a Palestinian government
building killing a policeman and wounding 61 others with shrapnel.

The transiting position of Mars along with the activation of Mars in the
relevant natal and national horoscopes, reflects the current confrontational
climate. Ariel Sharon's bellicose stance is reflected in his Aries Ascendant,
and amplified by a highly adventurous Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. Transiting
Mars reaches this combination over the coming week at the same time it
opposes Arafat's Mars in Libra.

Adding fuel to the fire is the culmination of a major Mars progression in
Israel's chart. Israel's progressed Mars has been squaring Uranus, creating a
dangerously volatile influence over the past six months. This aspect is
exact, reaching its maximum voltage, on January 28. This coming week is the
one highlighted by NewsScope in the December 10, 2001 issue.

Also this week transiting Uranus squares Israel's Sun (exact on January 24),
showing how Israel's leadership may move precipitously against perceived
threats while disregarding internal dissent and international opinion. These
indications point to Arafat's removal, which if carried out will immediately
polarize the Arab world against the U.S. and its war against terrorism.

The Education of Prince Harry

Prince Harry has been a naughty boy over the past year. Since the story broke
last week, now everyone in the world knows about his carousing, pot-smoking,
boozing and partying until the wee hours of the morning while his father,
Prince Charles, was off to London to manage the foot-and-mouth epidemic.

Prince Harry was born a duty-conscious Virgo (September 15, 1984; 4:20 pm;
London) with his Moon in traditional, stable Taurus to augment his natural
respect for routine and order. The Moon as the natural symbol for motherhood
is trine the Sun from the fourth house, reflecting the immense influence
Princess Diana had over Harry's life, especially in instilling the virtues
and obligations of his position.

Prince Harry has Capricorn Rising, and with Saturn strongly placed near the
Midheaven, he should eventually rise to a leadership position. However, with
his Mars in rowdy Sagittarius (like his father), young Harry knows how to
have a good time when the opportunity presents itself. Both Harry and his
father see women the same way since both have Venus in Libra and Moon in
Taurus.

Harry's Mercury in Virgo bestows keen analytical traits, yet is square to
quirky Uranus, and also square to Chiron, which can lead to great mental
anguish and bizarre behavior. Prince Charles, with his stern Saturn sitting
right on Harry's Mercury, can provide the discipline to tame this wild side,
though he's usually permissive and trusting. Charles was recently praised by
the Queen Mother for showing Harry the dark side of drug addiction during
their visit to a drug rehab center.
