Condit Admits to Secret Affair
The case of the missing intern has Washington in upheaval, the parents
grieving, and the tabloids buzzing. Chandra Ann Levy was supposed to arrive
at her parents' house by May 5, but she disappeared from her Washington DC
apartment sometime after April 30. Congressman Gary Condit of Ceres,
California has now admitted to having an affair with her.
The sudden appearance of this gothic mystery on the national psyche can be
traced to the recent Solar Eclipse and Neptune. NewsScope readers know that
transiting Neptune has been in a long-term square to the U.S. Scorpio
Ascendant, and this background vibration fosters the development of political
scandals. The Solar Eclipse happened to align with the U.S. Venus, the
natural ruler of love affairs.
Gary Condit (April 21, 1948; Tulsa, OK; time unknown) was born only three
weeks after Al Gore, and has the same powerful triple conjunction in Leo.
Condit's horoscope is graced by a Moon-Neptune conjunction in Libra, giving
him a charm more reminiscent of Bill Clinton. Venus, empowered by being the
ruler of his Taurus Sun and his Libra Moon, is in restless, two-timing
Gemini, and given a wild streak by being conjunct unruly Uranus.
Condit is in trouble. At the moment transiting Saturn is squaring his Juno,
representing a conflict within and about his marriage. Then, over the coming
week transiting Mercury and Jupiter enter Cancer, where they trigger the
Solar Eclipse degree. This should lead to some stunning developments which
then play out over the following weeks as transiting Jupiter arrives on the
U.S. Venus on July 26.
Chandra Ann Levy, The Missing Intern
When Chandra Ann Levy's parents reported her missing on May 5, the police
searched her apartment. They found her luggage fully packed next to her
credit cards, driver's license, and cell phone. Only her keys were missing,
and no signs of trouble were evident. Police speculate that she went out on a
last minute errand and then something unexpected happened.
Chandra Ann Levy was born with her Sun and Venus in bold Aries (April 14,
1977; 1:46 pm; Cleveland, OH*). Chandra's Sun trines the Ascendant and her
flirtatious Venus in Aries forms a Grand Trine with Neptune and Saturn, all
of which gives her a captivating aura. One classmate described her striking
presence: "You walk into a room, and she's the first person that you notice."
Chandra's Mercury dominates her chart by virtue of its conjunction with the
Midheaven (governing profession and status) and its network of many aspects
to other planets. Mercury is the focus point of a Yod, or Finger of God
formation with Neptune and Pluto. Mercury is also torn by the conflicting
agenda of a square to rigid, cautious Saturn and an excitable, impatient
opposition to Uranus.
Chandra's Moon plays an important role in her chart, especially since she
arrived in Washington. Her Moon is in impressionable, fanciful Pisces, and
has been activated by transiting Pluto ever since she met Congressman Condit.
Transiting Pluto to the Moon brings turbulent emotions to the surface, often
overwhelming in their psychological power. The Moon rules her twelfth house
of secrets and prisons: ostensibly she was working as an intern at the
Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Fateful Connections
Last Friday the Washington Post contradicted Condit's denials of having an
affair with Chandra when the paper published an interview with the missing
intern's aunt. The aunt quoted an intriguing last message from Chandra which
was left on her answering machine. "Heading home for a while. Don't know what
I'm going to do this summer. And I really have some big news or something
important to tell. Call me
"
Congressman Gary Condit must have been immediately attracted to the intern
when she first visited his office last October since his Mars in Leo is
exactly conjunct her Leo Ascendant. A most telling association is that
Chandra's Moon is conjunct Condit's Juno, the marriage asteroid. This
Pluto-activated link inspired the fantasy that he would leave his wife and
marry her.
Astrologers look to the Lunar Nodes to discern a fateful encounter. This
chart comparison shows double strong links: Chandra Levy's powerfully placed
Mercury is conjunct Condit's North Node, and her South Node and Sun are
conjunct his Mercury. These mutually momentous bonds were fully activated on
the last day she was seen.
On April 29 when Chandra left the message on her aunt's phone, the Sun and
Juno were conjunct each other and aligned with her Mercury-Uranus opposition,
reflecting exciting news about a relationship. Condit admitted to placing one
call to her on the 29th while his wife was making an unusual visit from
California.
