Neptune in Aquarius brings Corporate Socialism
The #1 political contest in the country took a sudden turn last Friday when
Mayor Giuliani dropped out of the race, citing health reasons. First lady
Hillary Clinton is now the odds-on favorite to become New York's next
senator. The #2 political contest, the Presidential campaign, began focusing
on competing resolutions to fix the Social Security System.
The Social Security Act (SSA) was signed into law on August 14, 1936 to
provide a financial safety net for retirement and unemployment. Because of
demographic changes, the trust fund for these promised benefits is expected
to run out of money by around 2025. The Republican plan allows individuals to
invest 2 percent of their social security tax in the stock market, while the
Democrat plan has the government investing the capital.
The sudden interest in saving Social Security can be clearly seen from the
current conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Taurus exactly squaring the SSA
Sun, while transiting Uranus is in opposition. Uranus offers radically new
ideas, Saturn wants it to work, and Jupiter sees opportunities in the healthy
stock market.
The fulfillment of this plan probably rests on Neptune's cycle. Neptune is in
Aquarius, which previously (in the 1840s) coincided with the birth of Karl
Marx and major socialist movements. Although socialism as envisioned by Marx
is dishonorable in the U.S., a new form of socialism is being born when the
nation's workers invest in corporate America. Perhaps Corporate Socialism
will come of age by the time Neptune opposes the SSA Sun.
Los Alamos Fire Reveals Nuclear Waste
The recent wildfire in New Mexico is the culmination of a series of
sensational events surrounding the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Before the
National Park Service let a controlled burn get out of hand, Los Alamos was
the hot- button issue on Chinese-American relations when nuclear scientist
Weng Ho Lee was accused of selling secrets to the Chinese government.
Los Alamos came into existence on November 16, 1942 ("late afternoon") when
Robert Oppenheimer and Gen. Leslie Groves selected the isolated mesa to build
the world's first atomic bomb. With four planets in secretive Scorpio,
including Mars, the ruler of weaponry, Los Alamos became the Pentagon's
ultimate research arm, eventually producing not only the bomb that destroyed
Hiroshima, but also the Trident, the Minuteman, the Pershing and cruise
missiles.
According to Nation* magazine, Los Alamos also produced an estimated 2400
sites suspected of being contaminated with plutonium, uranium, strontium 90,
tritium, nitrates, cyanides, and other lethal leftovers. In spite of elevated
levels of brain, breast, and throat cancer, the people of Los Alamos are in
denial about the pollution problem, perhaps because these government jobs pay
so well.
Los Alamos was created during 1942's Saturn-Uranus conjunction in
intellectual Gemini, a combination that reflects the brain trust residing in
that community. Mars had just entered Gemini and was forming a conjunction
with uncontrollable Uranus when the fire escaped the containment perimeter on
May 7. Watch in August when Pluto turns direct opposite the Los Alamos Saturn
for more severe revelations.
Charlton Heston and the NRA
Ever since NRA President Charlton Heston began a TV ad campaign, membership
and cash donations to the top gun lobby has soared, adding 200,000 members
and $10 million in just the last six weeks. Heston, who won a third term at
this week-end's annual convention, expects to play a leading role in this
year's political debate over guns.
Charlton Heston was born a public-relations expert with his Sun in diplomatic
Libra (October 4, 1923; 7:55 am; Evanston, IL). Since the Sun squares
passionate Pluto and intense Scorpio is his Rising Sign, Heston tends to see
the world as a warrior, as a life and death struggle between right and wrong.
This compelling forcefulness comes across in all his movie roles where he
plays mythological heroes caught in extraordinary situations.
Neptune, the planet associated with Hollywood's dream factory, is in his
tenth house of career and placed in the heroic sign of Leo. Neptune is
strongly modified by an exact square to Jupiter in Scorpio. Perhaps no other
astrological indicator shows greater intensity of belief than Jupiter in
Scorpio, unless it's Jupiter aspecting Pluto. Heston has both, a double
influence which makes him the perfect actor to play Moses or to lead the NRA.
At the moment, and for the rest of the year, several outer planets are
aligning with Heston's Jupiter-Neptune configuration. Transiting Saturn and
Jupiter form their conjunction in his seventh house of enemies, challenging
his strong beliefs. This fight is expected to go all the way through the
November election.
