Mars and Pluto Face Off
Sunday's Million Mom March was designed to impress lawmakers with the need
for major gun law reforms. The NRA, George W. Bush, Al Gore, and numerous
politicians and celebrities have all jumped on the bandwagon with their
favorite solution to America's unhealthy culture of violence and mayhem.
Astrologically, the debate has been sparked by the cosmic confrontation
between Mars and Pluto, two planets naturally prone to violence. While Mars
is traveling through factual, verbal Gemini, Pluto is in philosophic
Sagittarius. The Gemini/Sagittarius axis is associated with communication
media of all kinds, including television, movies, and the internet.
Mars and Pluto will be exactly opposite each other at 4:25 pm EDT on May 20,
and so for the entire week leading up to this dramatic moment, we can expect
intense, ruthless competition. Until now, the Presidential campaign between
Bush and Gore has been relatively tame. Expect the kid gloves to come off
this week. Then, corporate battles between media giants should increase, with
hostile takeovers, court battles, and coldblooded business tactics to control
broadcasting rights.
Mars and Pluto activating the Gemini/Sagittarius axis also corresponds to
imperiled transportation arteries. Watch for major accidents along roads,
railways and air routes. Individuals with important natal planets in this
degree zone will be especially vulnerable to accidents, bursts of anger, or
verbal attacks. The Moon and Mercury join the Mars-Pluto configuration on the
19th and 20th which become the days of maximum conflict. Forewarned is
forearmed.
500 UN Peacekeepers Held Hostage in Sierra Leone
Jesse Jackson, President Clinton's envoy to the troubled West African nation
of Sierra Leone, blamed the breakdown of last year's peace accord on greed
and the politics of diamonds. Vicious rebel leader Fodoy Sankoh and his army
of cutthroat troops control the diamond producing regions where they have
held 500 UN peacekeepers hostage for the last two weeks.
Sierra Leone's national horoscope reflects the recent history of bribery,
insurrection, and violence, as well as access to vast wealth. Granted
independence on April 27, 1961 (set for midnight at Freetown), Sierra Leone
was born with the Sun in materialistic Taurus, and given opportunities for
great wealth by the square to Jupiter and a trine to Pluto. However, Sierra
Leone has been constantly plagued by government corruption, a general
condition evident by the Sun's opposition to fraudulent Neptune.
The country's struggle with sadistic opposition groups can be seen in the
opposition of Mars and Saturn, one of the most brutal astrological
combinations possible. Uranus, the natural ruler of revolutionary factions,
is unaspected in this horoscope, and thereby tends to act beyond normal
constraints of human conscience.
The recent seven-planet alignment in Taurus triggered a number of crises
across Africa, a resource-rich continent initially partitioned by the
European colonial powers in the late 1880s during the previous grand
alignment in Taurus. At the moment, transiting Saturn is about to square
Sierra Leone's Uranus (exact on May 20) when we can expect an international
authority to establish limits on the rebel forces.
LeAnn Rimes Sues her Father
Teen singing sensation LeAnn Rimes filed a lawsuit against her father and
former manager last week for taking $7 million of her earnings for personal
use. LeAnn's parents divorced last year, and she is currently living with her
mother who is co-signing the lawsuit.
LeAnn was born a hard-working Virgo (August 28, 1982; 5:45 pm; Jackson, MS)
with her Moon in ambitious Capricorn. Neptune, the planet of deception and
fraudulent practices, has been transiting across her Aquarius Ascendant for
the past year, indicating the time frame of how long she has fallen victim to
family disillusionment.
The lawsuit reveals the extent of the family feud still taking place as the
current square between Saturn and Uranus hits her fourth house cusp exactly.
The fourth house governs the home and parents, and the intense pressure
between these two outer planets is turning her domestic life into an
emotional battle zone. The fourth house also represents the incarnating
soul's psychological foundations, and LeAnn has Chiron located here in
Taurus, the sign of the beautiful voice.
LeAnn was born exactly one Chiron cycle after famed country singer Patsy
Cline (b. September 8, 1932), another Virgo with Moon in Capricorn. Many
observers who have heard both Patsy Cline and LeAnn Rimes have remarked on
the haunting similarity of their voices. "Blue," LeAnn's first big hit, was
originally written for Patsy Cline who died in a plane crash before she could
record it.
