Events:
Jupiter moves into Aquarius on Jan 5 until January 2010, ushering in a new era of idealism and cooperation. Dysfunctional systems will be transformed! Mercury goes into Retrograde from Jan 11 – Feb 1, first in Aquarius and back into Capricorn – make your plans in the first weeks of January, then ride out the Retrograde, taking action in February. Jan 26 there will be a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, creating new opportunities for the future; the coordinating Lunar Eclipse on Feb 9 will be a reality check, but denial will keep most from noticing. And last but not least, Saturn in Virgo opposes Uranus in Pisces on Feb 5, with yet another shakeup of the status quo.
Aries
In the first days of January, you’ll feel an emotional pull to change what’s already working for you. Make a New Year’s Resolution to do something differently at work – shift something to increase your satisfaction, and make an effort to implement that change immediately so that the Mercury Retrograde doesn’t hurt so bad. In February, Venus enters your sign. Buy something new that makes you feel good, and even better, take an action that improves the world for the people around you.
Taurus
Has your sense of security been shaken? Make a New Year’s Resolution to keep all your P’s and Q’s in line at work. Your boss has their eye on you, and your hard work and attention to detail will be appreciated…or if you’re slacking that will be noticed too. In February, spend some time planning a trip, down to the very last detail. If you’ve been thinking about going back to school or developing some new skills, this is the perfect time to research your desired field or educational program so that you can get started next semester!
Gemini
Have you been talking about a change you’d like to see in the world? This season you are in a great position to make it happen! Your New Year’s Resolution could be to take your vision, flesh out all the nitty-gritty details, and then start talking it up! Do your planning early in January, but don’t set the wheels in motion until February. Then, people will not only listen to you, but get inspired, lend a hand, and even contribute financially.
Cancer
You may be finding yourself upset by the state of the world these days. What can you do to feel better? Make a New Year’s Resolution to express yourself through art, writing, or poetry – you’ll be surprised by how much it helps. When Mercury goes retrograde, watch out for people breaking their promises to you, especially around money. In February, someone you love won’t feel well, and a little TLC will go a long way.
Leo
Take good care of yourself this month, Leo. If you don’t have a New Year’s Resolution yet, consider creating some guidelines for yourself around your health, especially if you know you’re not eating as well as you should be, or moving your body hard enough to make your blood pulse through your veins. Create a pattern for yourself that becomes a habit, such as going for a walk at the same time every day, actually hitting the gym, or not eating snack foods that have corn syrup in them.
Virgo
Saturn in Virgo in Retrograde continues to insist that you toe the line, staying conservative in your approach to life, the universe and everything. Your theme this season is working towards what’s best for the world around you. Make a New Year’s Resolution that includes volunteering on a regular basis, or assisting a friend with a project they feel passionate about. Your extremely high standards will make a difference!
Libra
This could be a wonderful year for romance if you’re willing to do the work. If you can forgive someone for something that happened in the past, you’ll be open to new levels of adoration. For your New Year’s Resolution, make a commitment to putting yourself in your loved one’s shoes. Express your appreciation, but don’t be afraid to ask for acknowledgement yourself.
Scorpio
This season, even your best intentions don’t manifest your hopes. Your winter will be challenging on a practical level – family spats, money concerns. You’ll even find yourself considering getting a new job. Just wait until after the Retrograde so you don’t make things worse. This can help: a New Year’s Resolution to always remember that you’re interconnected to everyone, and that you need to let go of your judgment to live a fulfilling life.
Sagittarius
Feeling torn between optimism about the future of our country, but pessimistic about your own life? That’s no surprise with your star alignments this season. Your feet may be itchy for something new and exciting, but you’re better off with a short and meaningless foray than change and upheaval. For your New Year’s Resolution, consider paying attention to all the fine details, especially around your work and career.
Capricorn
This is the time of year when you shine. The world is undergoing a shakeup, and you have an opportunity to be cause in the matter. If our new political structure is going to succeed, it needs people like you to support it. Your practical actions contribute to people’s confidence in what’s possible. If you’re the type to make New Year’s Resolutions, allow yourself some spontaneous creative self-expression.
Aquarius
Lucky you! We have a new president who promises a new era of idealism, and cooperation…benevolent Jupiter moves into your sign in January and stays for a year; and on January 26 there’s a solar eclipse in Aquarius as well, promising new vision. For your New Year’s Resolution, take this opportunity to let go of a perspective that no longer suits you.
Pisces
Love is in the water (get it?). Venus is in Pisces, and for once it’s OK to follow your heart instead of your head. Let yourself have some fun, but do remember it’s fun for fun’s sake – since this little adventure doesn’t meet your deepest needs. But you need this intimacy, both physically and emotionally. So, your New Year’s Resolution should be not to think too much!
