Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus and Libra, and the 2nd and 7th houses. Venus was the Greek goddess of love and beauty, also representing the feminine and fertility.
Because it's the brightest object in the sky except for the Sun and Moon, Venus was known even in prehistoric times.
Venus' rotation is somewhat unusual in that it is both very slow (243 Earth days = 1 Venus day) and retrograde.
Venus rules love, relationships, cultural activities, art, luxury items, and beauty. Jewelry generally falls under her rulership. The importance of material possessions is associated with Venus.
The house placement of Venus in your chart indicates where you express beauty and peace. In the fourth house, you may decorate your house in a beautiful way. In the twelfth house, you may value the peace and harmony of your privacy, keeping your desires a secret. In the seventh house, marriage partnerships may be a high priority.
Physically, Venus governs the throat, kidneys, and diabetes.

The Second House deals with material possessions and your attitude towards the physical world; it is ruled by Taurus.
Although astrologers often talk about money, real estate, and your personal possessions when discussing the second house, it is important to remember that the second house represents your value system. Every dollar you spend in the world represents a vote in your value and belief system.
If you are not experiencing the abundance and prosperity that is naturally yours to experience in this world, the second house of your astrology chart is the first place to look. Read the sign on the cusp of your second house to get a hint about your belief in money or real estate. Taurus on the second house may purchase a luxurious home with solid resale value. Gemini on the second house cusp may prefer a home loaded with books.
Be aware, there are many other places to look in an astrology chart for material resources, especially the 10th house of Career. Natal planets in a house will influence the nature of that house as well.
The second house relates to your throat and voice. It has to do with speaking your truth. The second house helps you manifest beauty and your highest values into the world.

A Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth casts a shadow on the Moon.
The Sun and Moon are on direct opposite sides of the Earth (in Opposition). |
|
Lunar Eclipse on April 24 by Mark Dodich.
The Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) occurs on April 24 at 3:06 AM PDT. A lunar eclipse tends to be emotional, dredging up your subconscious fears to achieve release and healing. In the signs of Scorpio and Taurus, power and control issues are likely to be up for people.
You are called to transform environments and relationships that are not using power properly. This includes your own issues of trusting the Universe to support you in manifesting your dreams and desires. Of course, it is easier to see control and manipulation issues coming from others, and they are likely to come in April!
Make time for your inner life, taking an inner check to see who and what you really want in your life. You may find that what you thought you wanted is not what you want at all. If so, begin to make needed changes before the end of July when disciplinary Saturn requires you to open your heart (more on that later). |

Learn Astrology: Oppositions |
|
Aspects
In an Astrology Chart, the planets have an additional dimension. Their geometric angles to each other also influence your personality.
Aspects represent stresses, tensions, and harmonious relationships between the different parts of your life. A challenging aspect between two planets can motivate you to accomplish great things in life, or you can hide under the covers. Harmonious aspects can help you to express life creatively; or, you can get lazy because the planets involved flow so easily that you decide to just kick back and do nothing. All astrology charts have a combination of challenging and harmonious aspects.

Oppositions
When planets fall exactly across the circle (180 degrees apart) of the chart from each other, they are said to be opposite each other. An opposition is like a tug-of-war where two sides pull for equal attention.
Although sometimes you will feel pulled apart, you can discover a greater life perspective based upon the nature of the two planets. The goal is to integrate the two planets so they can work together in a better way than they work individually.
For example, every Full Moon is an opposition of the Sun and Moon. A full moon is highly expressive where people tend to act out. Inner emotional patterns express themselves outwardly, and we can see what is going on at deeper levels.
Oppositions in your natal chart will show up as struggles in your life, two sides to your personality, the complexity that makes you interesting. The meanings of the two planets involved indicate the areas of your internal conflicts.
Many people become preoccupied with the "struggle" of an opposition, as if it's a bad thing. Think of a yin-yang. The dark and light are both part of each other. You can't have good without bad, heads without tails, or a front without a back.
Or, think of your oppositions as a seesaw - the fun is in going up and down! |

TAURUS Drinking style
Taurus prefers to drink at a leisurely pace, aiming for a mellow glow rather than a full-on zonk. Since a truly intoxicated Taurus is a one-person stampede, the kind of bull-in-a-china-shop inebriate who spills red wine on white carpets and tells fart jokes to employers, the preference for wining and dining (or Bud and buddies) to body shots and barfing is quite fortunate for the rest of us. This is not to say that the Bull is by any means a teetotaler -- god, no. A squiffy Taurus will get, er, gregarious (full of loudmouth soup, some would say) and is extremely amusing to drag to a karaoke bar when intoxicated.
