Taurus is characterized as reliable, patient, steady, and trustworthy. Those born in the sign of the bull are either sensually elegant or very earthy. Their strength is that they can survive the most difficult of challenges.

Astronomy and Astrology: Venus

Most people believe they have to believe either in astronomy OR astrology. But the two are not mutually exclusive! Astronomy is the study of the stars and planets, while astrology uses a consistent framework to interpret how the orbits of the planetary bodies influence our lives.

Venus is the "ruling planet" of Taurus. Venus was the Greek goddess of love and beauty, also representing the feminine and fertility.

Because it's the brightest object in the sky except for the Sun and Moon, Venus was known even in prehistoric times.

Venus' rotation is somewhat unusual in that it is both very slow (243 Earth days = 1 Venus day) and retrograde. In addition, the periods of Venus' rotation and of its orbit are synchronized such that it always presents the same face toward Earth when the two planets are at their closest approach. Whether this is a resonance effect or merely a coincidence is not known.*
