Live Earth in the Age of Aquarius

On the magical day of 7/07/07, rock concerts were held on seven continents in an effort to persuade people and governments to go green. Two billion Live Earth viewers listened to some of our planet's most popular rock stars, while Al Gore and others appealed for action on global warming. The high-tech links bridged national, ethnic, and religious borders in a sure sign that we're nearing the Age of Aquarius.

The seminal event for such global affairs was the Concert for Bangladesh, which was held on August 1, 1971 (London, 12:00 pm). This horoscope features an altruistic Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in the second house of money, but the millions raised were locked up for years by the IRS: Pluto, the ruler of the second house, is in the twelfth house of imprisonment. Also, Saturn in the eighth house of taxes, opposes Jupiter and Neptune.

However, the Concert for Bangladesh chart shows several celestial signatures which have been repeated in subsequent global concerts. Several planets, Fortuna and the Lunar Node axis highlight the Leo-Aquarius polarity, showing how superstars (Leo) bask in mass approval, networked together by innovative technology (Aquarius). The same Leo-Aquarius polarity was present in the July 13, 1985 Live Aid concert, as well as Live Earth.

Ceres, as the natural ruler of aid, has been prominently featured in all the global concerts. In both the Bangladesh and Live Aid concerts, Ceres in nurturing Cancer reflected the need for physical aid. At the Live Earth concert, Ceres was in earthy Taurus, showing the need to help our planet. Astrologers can tell that the Live Earth concert is the next step in an awakening global consciousness, since Pluto exactly squares the Pluto in George Harrison's Bangladesh concert.

Top-Tier Democrats Raise $62 Million

As President Bush's approval rating sinks to the lowest of any president in history, Americans are leaning increasingly toward Democrats to take the White House in 2009. Hillary Clinton came in second behind Barack Obama in primary money raised in the second quarter, but the top three took in $62 million, while the top three Republican candidates took in only $40 million.

Barack Obama (August 4, 1961; 1:06 pm*; Honolulu, HI) led the pack with an astonishing $32 million raised over the last three months. His natal chart features electric Uranus in the tenth house of reputation and public image, where it opposes the U.S. Moon, giving him the kind of refreshing, revolutionary aura that promises radical change. Uranus to the U.S. Moon is the astrological key to his success.

Obama's progressed Venus is now virtually exactly opposite the U.S. Moon, and just past his natal Uranus, a three-planet combination that defines his broad financial support. This very fortunate alignment begins to wane in August, but in 2008, Obama's progressed Ascendant will be trine his Uranus, at the same time transiting Uranus is trine his Scorpio Ascendant - all assuring ongoing excitement about his candidacy.

Hillary Clinton (October 26, 1947; 8:00 am*; Chicago, IL) joined her husband Bill in Iowa last week, evoking the concept of a co-presidency. Transiting Pluto will be passing back and forth across Hillary's Juno (her marriage asteroid), at the same time that her progressed Juno is sextile her Ascendant. Bill Clinton will be the key to her success or failure, as the strategists weigh how much of Bill is a good thing and how much is too much.

The Fairy-Tale Wedding: Eva Longoria and Tony Parker

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and her MVP beau Tony Parker were married Saturday in a Parisian church that used to serve French royals. The lavish, fairy-tale wedding was attended by numerous mega-stars, viewed by hundreds of celeb-watchers, and protected by dozens of beefy guards and secret police. The party continued at Vaux-le-Vicomte, a nearby 17th-century chateau.

Eva Longoria was born with her Sun and Jupiter in faith-oriented Pisces (March 15, 1975; Corpus Christi, TX; time unknown), a celestial influence which was made evident by her traditional (if not fabulous) wedding ceremony. Over the last two years, transiting Pluto has been squaring her Sun-Jupiter, transforming her life into a world-renown celebrity. The love of her life** also arrived, as her progressed Sun was conjunct Venus.

Love and marriage are two different facets of relationship, and for marriage we look at Juno. Eva's Juno is found in traditional, solid Taurus, but opposes independent Uranus. This natal configuration does not bode well for a long-term commitment, unless they feel comfortable spending long periods away from each other. Juno-Uranus can also point to very different ethnic backgrounds or age differences between the partners.

Tony Parker (May 17, 1982; Bruges, Belgium; time unknown) has Juno in Capricorn and square Saturn, a double message which deeply values commitment. Tony and Eva have mutual Jupiter-Uranus aspects (his Jupiter conjunct her Uranus, her Jupiter trine his Uranus), an exciting interchange which thrives on being in the limelight. However, mutual Venus-Saturn aspects mean that if they spend several weeks alone together, the thrill may quickly dissolve into stagnation.
