North Korea
Joins Nuclear Club
North Korea's
detonation of its first nuclear bomb last Tuesday set the international
community into a frenzied debate about how to deal with this
rogue nation. South Korea and China were divided about how
to proceed, while Japan and the U.S. favored immediate and
severe sanctions, plus a military blockade. Meanwhile, American
analysts feared that North Korea might sell its nuclear technology
to Al Qaeda.
North Korea's national horoscope (September 10, 1948; 9:50 pm; Pyongyang) shows
clear signs of these latest developments. On the day of the nuclear test (October
9), transiting Mars and the new dwarf planet Eris were in an exact opposition,
and this polarity formed an exact square to the NK Midheaven. The militant Mars
archetype combined with Eris, the troublemaker, to upset and confuse the entire
international community.
The observant astrologer will note a number of additional transits with very
tight orbs* - all of which underscore the significance of this event and
validate the accuracy of this North Korean horoscope. The situation is even more
explicit when considering progressed aspects. The powerful nuclear self-assertion
is clearly defined by progressed Mars precisely trine Pluto (orb 0º02').
Undoubtedly, President Kim Jong Il will continue to act in defiant and unpredictable
ways. This is evident by North Korea's progressed Sun (leadership) heading into
a trioctile with Uranus (orb 0º13') and square with Pluto, which will be
exact in six months. Kim Jong Il's horoscope repeats this message, since his
progressed Sun and Mercury are also squaring his Pluto. No matter how you look
at it, this global sector promises to be a major hotspot over the next few years.
Muhammad Yunus,
Banker to the Poor
This year's
Nobel Prize for Peace was awarded last Friday to Muhammad Yunus,
a banker from Bangladesh. The Nobel Committee chose Yunus for
his work in micro-credit, which in essence, is making loans
to the poorest of the poor. "Lasting peace can not be
achieved unless large population groups find ways in which
to break out of poverty", explained the Committee.
Muhammad Yunus was born when the social planets Jupiter and Saturn were conjunct
in the financially-savvy sign of Taurus (June 28, 1940; Chittagong, Bangladesh;
time unknown), giving him a keen interest in economics. Yunus began his career
as an economics professor in Dhaka, Bangladesh, but in 1976 when his country
was hit by a devastating famine, he realized his economic theories were impractical.
At the time, transiting Uranus was opposing his Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, and
he experienced a complete revolution in his social philosophy. He began a project
that no other banker in the world would undertake - making small loans
to women in an Islamic nation. By October 1983, his project was successful enough
to be supported by the government, when it became the Grameen Bank.**
Yunus's love of his homeland can be seen in his Sun-Venus conjunction in Cancer.
After 1983, transiting Pluto entered into a long-term trine to his Sun-Venus,
and his banking model was replicated around the world, always giving special
favoritism to poor women. His Nobel Prize arrives as transiting Jupiter and Saturn
are squaring each other, offering the "banker to the poor" as an exemplary
role model for positive social change.
Sara Evans
Quits Dancing
Last Thursday,
country singer Sara Evans filed for divorce from her husband
Chris Schelske, and on the same day announced that she was
dropping out of the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars.
In the glitzy competition, Evans was partnered with professional
dancer Tony Dovolani, and although they were twice judged to
be in the bottom two, her loyal fans saved her from being eliminated.
Sara Evans was born with her Sun exactly square Saturn (February 5, 1971; New
Franklin, MO; time unknown), a combination that is driven to achieve fame and
recognition. Her Sun at 16 degrees Aquarius is exactly conjunct the U.S. fourth
house cusp (the same degree as Ronald Reagan's Sun), so that her artistic expressions
resonate deeply with the American soul.
Transiting Neptune has been in a long-term conjunction with her Sun, fostering
that ethereal aura of a genuine celebrity. In this phase, Evans has received
numerous awards, including R&R's 2006 Vocalist of the Year Award. However,
transiting Saturn in Leo has been in an opposition to her Sun over the past few
months, bringing her troubled marriage to a critical turning point.
Evans was born with Pluto at 29 degrees Virgo, as were many others born in 1971.
This degree became hot on September 22 when it was hit by the Solar Eclipse.
In Evans' case, her Pluto squares Venus (and progressed Mars), a combination
often associated with jealousy, betrayal, and even pornography. She left her
unemployed husband on grounds that he was watching pornography in front of their
young children.
