Israel's Machiavellian Election
Ariel Sharon's crippling stroke (as transiting Uranus was conjunct
his Sun) sent Israeli politics an unexpected curve ball, and the
entire peace process into unknown territory. The former leader
of the hawkish Likud Party, Sharon vowed to lead a new centrist
party and Israel toward a more accommodating approach. Now, the
election is a toss-up between Israel's three main parties.
The election scheduled
for March 28 happens to
be the day before a total
Solar Eclipse, underscoring
the dramatic events shaping
up in the Middle East.
Israel's national horoscope
(May 14, 1948; 4:37 pm;
Tel Aviv) reiterates the
themes of fundamental change.
At the moment, transiting
Neptune is opposite Israel's
tenth house Saturn, which
corresponds to the current
uncertainty (Neptune) around
Israel's governing institutions
(Saturn).
Israel's Leo Moon reigns
over the entire horoscope
with its exact conjunction
to the Midheaven. The Moon
here represents the power
of the people in determining
the nation's direction.
Transiting Saturn is now
heading toward a conjunction
with this Moon, and will
arrive as the elections
take place. This astro-event

immense responsibility
now falling on the Israeli
people.
Benjamin Netanyahu (October

is well-placed to lead
the Likud Party back into
power as transiting Saturn
trines his Sagittarius
Ascendant and transiting
Pluto sextile his Libra
Sun. However, with transiting
Uranus squaring his Venus
and opposing his tenth
house Saturn, events will
likely spin out of his
control. Watch around March
2 when Mercury turns retrograde
(while squaring Pluto)
for the most Machiavellian
maneuvers involving Netanyahu.
West Virginia Mine Mishap
About last week's tragic
coal mine disaster, a NewsScope reader writes, "I hope
you address an out-of-control print and cable press that clearly
overstepped the lines in desiring to get a scoop... An in-depth
assessment is needed. Were Neptunian tricks and illusions at
the root?"
As a starting point, the
false recovery report was broadcast on January 3 at 11:50 pm (Tallmansville,
WV).
A chart set for this moment
shows a Yod configuration
involving the Moon's sextile
to Ceres, which in itself
indicates a favorable recovery.
But both the Moon and Ceres
are in hard aspect to a
retrograde Saturn, which
in its harshest symbolism,
represents the Grim Reaper.
All three of these planets
are at nine degrees, so
this is the leading signature
of this local event.*
The story grabbed national
attention, and so, placing
the event chart around
the Scorpio Rising U.S.
horoscope does in fact
reveal Neptune's prominence.
Transiting Neptune was
at 16º04' Aquarius,
and the foundation of the
Scorpio Rising chart is
at 16º08' Aquarius,
giving an orb of only 0º04' – a
precise hit. The 4th house
cusp also relates to physical
foundations, and includes
mines.
Neptune, the planet of
hope, can quickly lead
to despair when other stressful
planets are in play. At
the time, transiting Saturn
was squaring the Scorpio
Ascendant, leading to this
misfortune. The false recovery
event represents an emerging
trend, and can be seen
as an omen. In 2006, Saturn
will oppose Neptune, as
the two align with the
U.S. Midheaven, bringing
plenty of disenchantment
with the government, and
bursting other overly-optimistic
promises and expectations.
Nicole Kidman's Wedding
International
superstar Nicole Kidman has been spotted wearing a diamond ring
on her wedding finger as she and country singer Keith Urban made
the entertainment rounds in New York and Las Vegas over the past
week. Both have been incredibly tight-lipped about their relationship,
but rumors abound that Kidman wants to get married before her ex
Tom Cruise takes his vows.
According to Australian astrologer
Milton Black**, Kidman was
born at 3:15 pm (June 20, 1967;
Honolulu, Hawaii). With this
bit of precious data we now
know that Kidman has discreet
Scorpio Rising, and Mars, the
ruler of her chart, in the
secretive 12th house. Coincidentally,
her Scorpio Ascendant is nearly
the same as the U.S. Scorpio
Ascendant, accounting for her
popularity in this country.
Kidman's private life stands
in contrast to her bright professional
image, as signified by Venus
and Jupiter in dramatic Leo
near her Midheaven. Venus is
well-aspected here, with trines
to Saturn and her Moon, giving
her tremendous celebrity status,
and wide recognition for both
her beauty and talent. With
Saturn in her sixth house of
jobs (and opposing Mars), we
know she's had to work hard
for her success.
At the moment, her progressed
Moon has just entered her 7th
house of partners, indicating
her emotional focus on relationships.
And with transiting Saturn
near her Midheaven, she's definitely
serious about making a commitment.

has his Scorpio Sun near Kidman's
Scorpio Ascendant, an excellent
compatibility factor. Look
for an announcement any day
now about their secret wedding.
