Jack Abramoff, Tempest in a Teapot
Washington was all a-buzz last week over what lobbyist Jack Abramoff
would tell federal prosecutors. Widely seen as the largest influence
peddler in the nation's capital, Abramoff will name names in a
plea deal to sidestep his trial scheduled to begin January 9.
One insider compared the brewing scandal to the widespread political
corruption unearthed during the Teapot Dome scandal of 1922-24.
Astrologically, the reference
to Teapot Dome evokes the
Neptune cycle in the U.S.
horoscope, and reveals
the likely extent of the
current criminal investigation.
When The Wall Street Journal
first raised the possibility
of corruption in President
Harding's cabinet on April
14, 1922, Neptune had just
reached the U.S. Leo Midheaven.
Now, one-half a Neptune
cycle later, Neptune is
exactly opposite the U.S.
Midheaven.
Jack Abramoff was born
with his Sun in Neptune's
sign, Pisces (February
28, 1958; Atlantic City,
NJ; time unknown). His
Sun forms a favorable trine
to a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction
in Scorpio, a combination
that tends to attract great
wealth, and knows the immeasurable
influence Big Money can
generate. This Jupiter-Neptune
happens to be conjunct
the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant,
giving him a personal fate
strongly tied to national
politics.
The Teapot Dome scandal
began unraveling in 1923
when Jupiter was transiting
through Scorpio and squaring
Neptune. Now, once again,
Jupiter is transiting through
Scorpio, and over the next
six months will be squaring
Neptune. History repeats
itself in predictable cycles.
Abramoff, with his natal
Jupiter-Neptune resonating
with the national horoscope
and the current transits,
is at the center of the
corruption tempest.
9/11 Re-visited
A NewsScope reader, who
has written several popular books on predictive astrology, described
how she converted to Gemini after seeing the transits and progressions
during 9/11. However, she writes that "while this area
of the correct U.S. chart is likely to remain a controversial
subject, it's clear that the Scorpio Rising chart deserves observation."
Although no astrologer
predicted 9/11 with any
clarity, a general consensus
has arisen concerning the
predictive value of the
Solar Eclipse on June 21,
2001. This eclipse took
place right on the summer
solstice in the first degree
of Cancer. Transiting Mars
came along in early September
to activate this degree,
and we got the terrorist
event that changed the
world.
In the Scorpio Rising chart,
the progressed* Midheaven – representing
the nation's collective
fate at any particular
moment – was in the
last degree of Pisces,
and about to enter Aries.
The June 21 Solar Eclipse
and transiting Mars on
9/11 hit this progressed
Midheaven on the button.
A few months later when
the progressed Midheaven
entered militant Aries,
the War on Terrorism began.
Also using the Scorpio
Rising chart, the ruling
planet Mars had progressed
into the 12th house (to
18º Libra), the house
of secret enemies. Progressed
Mars remains in the 12th
house for many years to
come. On 9/11 the progressed
Ascendant (at 18º Cancer)
formed an exact square
to this Mars, activating
the hidden enemies. On
9/11 itself, the transiting
Sun and Venus were at 18º of
their respective signs,
triggering the entire complex.
Vladimir Bortko Ends Russian Jinx
For
decades they said it couldn't be done. Mikhail Bulgakov's novel
The Master and Margarita had become a 20th century cult classic,
familiar to every Russian. Many filmmakers tried to turn the novel
into a movie, but for one reason** or another, always failed. Finally,
Vladimir Bortko completed the task, and over the past week the
10-part TV series became an instant hit.
Vladimir Bortko was born with
his Sun in the practical sign
of Taurus (May 7, 1946; Moscow;
time unknown). His Sun forms
a supportive sextile to Saturn,
which further grounds him in
the real world. Then, the closest
aspect in his horoscope is
the Sun's trine to Pallas (the
asteroid) in Capricorn, which
bestows him with strategic
vision, political insights,
and organizational ability.
With a Mars-Pluto conjunction
in Leo bringing him plenty
of self-confidence, and a flair
for the dramatic, Bortko became
capable of breaking through
what Russian commentators called
a curse, to create Russia's
most-watched cinema. The story
about Satan, Jesus, witches,
lovers, and political corruption
was said to be blocked by "supernatural
powers", but the director's
Mars in Leo placed him on the
hero's path to overcome such
superstitions.
Now transiting Saturn is right
on his Mars-Pluto, bringing
him the success of hard work
and steady vision. At the same
time transiting Neptune – often
associated with superstitions – is
squaring his Sun, forcing him
to state how he managed to
complete this film. He dismissed
the entire curse, saying "The
idea of a jinx was nonsense
brewed up by the Russian psyche."
* Progressions are based on the fractal formula that one day after
birth is symbolically equivalent to one year after birth. Progressions
are rarely used in this column since this technique is a bit advanced
for the general reader, but they're essential when describing historic
events such as 9/11.
