Hillary Clinton in 2008
With President Bush's current poll numbers reaching new lows,
some Democrat
hopefuls are already gearing
up for the 2008 Presidential campaign. Last
week Senator Joseph Biden
announced his intention to run, but most eyes are on
Hillary Clinton. A CNN/Gallup
poll taken last week indicated that for the
first time a majority of
Americans would vote for her if she ran.
Hillary Clinton's Moon is in Pisces (October 26, 1947; 8:00 am;
Chicago),
which from a statistical
perspective, does not bode well for getting
elected. None of the nation's
43 presidents were born with the Moon in Pisces,
perhaps because this placement
gives a self-sacrificing personality, and sometimes
even a victim status not
the kind of individual one wants for a Commander
-in-Chief.
On the other hand, the New York Senator has her Sun, Mercury,
Venus, and
Ascendant in no-nonsense
Scorpio, all in dynamic square to Mars, Saturn, and
Pluto in Leo. This configuration
describes a powerful ambition, and an individual
who wants to leave her
imprint on the world. It's reform-minded, but also
tends to attract powerful
enemies.
Ten of America's 43 Presidents were born with Mars in Leo, a
statistical
anomaly that far exceeds
chance. Americans like the boldness, the courage,
and dramatic flair that
Mars in Leo provides. Hillary Clinton's Mars in Leo
gives her an edge if she
can overcome the apparent weakness of her Pisces Moon.
Currently, and over the
next four months, transiting Pluto is squaring her
Moon, giving her an opportunity
to transform this side of her public image into
something more marketable.
Political Astrology, the Book, Available Soon
Michael O'Reilly's book
Political Astrology is in the production process,
and will be available*
soon. Here's an excerpt from the Introduction: "Many
people interested in astrology
are taken aback when they hear that a
horoscope can be drawn
for a country. How can
that be? In fact, a horoscope
can be drawn up for any
circumscribed entity, and
is based on a birth moment in the same way astrologers erect a
human's horoscope.
"That the national horoscope works in practice as well as
the individual
horoscope says something
about the nature of our reality. The planets have a
perceivable influence on
our lives both individually and collectively, an
influence that can be monitored
and used to make useful
projections into the future.
The current scientific model that seems to best reflect the
multi-dimensional reach
of the planets is Complexity
Theory and its subsidiary,
fractal geometry.
"Fractals are patterns that repeat each other at multiple
levels or
magnitudes of awareness.
Although fractal geometry is a relatively recent
discovery, scientists and
mathematicians use it to explain nature, and how similar
patterns are replicated
at different scales. For example, the spiral shape found in
galaxies is similar to
the spiral found in hurricanes, and in the model of
the atom.
"The non-linear dynamics, which connect these various levels
of interaction,
can be diagrammed using
astrological principles. Astrologically, Complexity
correlates to Aquarius
since both are about networking and systems thinking.
One could say that Complexity
Theory and Political Astrology are heralds of the
fledgling new Age of Aquarius."
The Bewitching Nicole Kidman
Australian
beauty Nicole Kidman reigns
as one of the most bankable
Hollywood celebrities, with her latest film venture Bewitched opening
nationwide over this past weekend.
Kidman bears a remarkable resemblance
to the original TV sit-com
star of Bewitched, Elizabeth Montgomery, something her friends
have told her since she was a child
when she first learned to wiggle
her nose to make strange things happen.
Nicole Kidman was born with
her multi-talented Gemini Sun
conjunct the people-pleasing
asteroid Pallas (June 20, 1967;
Honolulu, HI; time unknown).
The Sun-Pallas combination
in Gemini gives the Oscar-winning
star plenty of charm and wit,
plus a bemusing cleverness
that comes across in many of
her film roles. In its highest
manifestation, Pallas blesses
the personality with wisdom
and keen perceptions.
This rather pleasant pairing
is disrupted by a square to
the powerful Uranus-Pluto conjunction
that was in effect in the mid-1960s.
Kidman's sweet Gemini planets
are thereby influenced by a
more revolutionary, socially
outrageous tendency, giving
her a quirkiness and an interest
in expressing taboo subjects.
This side of Kidman is dark
and mysterious, and conflicts
with the more bubbly Gemini
Sun.
As an on-screen witch, Kidman
is in her element. Her character
Samantha is
outwardly friendly and attractive,
but holds the secret of witchy
powers.
Elizabeth Montgomery (April
15, 1933; 4:38 pm; Los Angeles)
had similar
planetary influences, with
her Aries Sun conjunct magnetic
Venus, but also conjunct eccentric
Uranus and square secretive
Pluto. In both cases, the stars'
twinkling personalities conceal
magical powers.
