Bush Chart Update

Political astrologers know that the horoscope of a nation's leader determines much of the nation's direction and fate, even if he doesn't have a direct hand in current events. Since the U.S. is the global village's reigning military and economic superpower, this maxim is especially relevant when tracking George W. Bush's chart (July 6, 1946; 7:26 am; New Haven, CT).

At the moment, Bush is in the midst of his second Saturn Return, which technically will be exact on June 15, but has been in effect for the last two years. Since Bush's natal Saturn squares his Midheaven, his point of honor, this transit is challenging his and the nation's standing. Saturn, the planet of judgment, is bringing back the results of his pre-emptive invasion of Iraq, and it doesn't look good as the violence there teeters toward widespread chaos.

Meanwhile, transiting Uranus is in Pisces, and forming a close opposition to his Mars. The placement of Uranus, the planet of revolution, in Pisces, the sign of faith, has brought massive demonstrations across the Muslim world against alleged desecration of the Islamic holy book. This aspect resonates with intense political and even physical attacks against the President.

Transiting Jupiter turns direct on June 5 while sextile Bush's Mercury. This increases Bush's determination to act according to his religious beliefs, and he will likely issue his first veto against stem cell research. Most ominous is the Uranus station on June 14, which forms an exact inconjunction to Bush's Pluto. This outer planet pairing promises to bring ever more global protests against Bush in particular, but the United States as a whole.

Saudi Arabia in Transition

Saudi Arabia's long-ailing King Fahd was hospitalized over the weekend, as the nation's special forces were put on red alert. King Fahd is the world's richest monarch with an estimated fortune of $25 billion, and he is the official leader of two of Islam's holiest sites and the world's largest oil reserves. Any transition of power in Saudi Arabia is a major development in geopolitics.

Saudi Arabia's national horoscope is set for January 15, 1902 (3:45 am GMT, Riyadh), and features a Sun-Jupiter-Saturn triple conjunction right on the Capricorn Ascendant. Historically, the transition of power in Saudi Arabia has taken place during major outer planet transits to the Sun, the symbol for a nation's leadership. Fahd himself took the throne on June 13, 1982 when transiting Pluto was exactly square the Saudi Sun.

The announcement of Fahd's hospitalization arrived as transiting Saturn was exactly (to-the-minute) opposite the Saudi Sun. His passing seems imminent, and may occur as early as June 5, when transiting Jupiter turns direct while squaring the Saudi's twelfth house Chiron. The changing of the guard should be a peaceful one, as Prince Abdullah has been in place, and transiting Neptune is exactly trine natal Pluto, indicating a smooth transfer of power.

However, over the next few years transiting Pluto will be squaring the Saudi Moon, which could indicate a restless, disruptive population demanding a change in government practices. In addition, the progressed chart (with P2 Mars square Mercury, P2 Mercury square Mars) is indicating the likelihood of increased domestic violence beginning in about a year.

Renee Zellweger's Venus

Last Tuesday actress Renee Zellweger received her star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame to cap off what has, so far, been a momentous year. On January 15 she met country music star Kenny Chesney at a tsunami relief telethon, and they married on May 9. Next up: she stars with Russell Crowe in Cinderella Man, which opens on June 3.

Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger was born with her Sun in sensual Taurus (April 25, 1969; Katy, TX; time unknown), and her Venus in spicy Aries. Her Venus is extra-magnetic since this love planet was turning direct on the day she was born. Venus is further enhanced with sex appeal and eroticism with trines to Mars in adventurous Sagittarius and the Moon in dramatic Leo.

Kenny Chesney (March 26, 1968; Knoxville, TN; time unknown) was born with an ambitious, responsible Sun-Saturn conjunction in Aries. This planetary duo activates Renee's Venus, awakening her love nature. Venus in Aries women tend to go after the heart's desire rather than wait around for the man to make the move. She sent him a secret note during the tsunami telethon, and they soon began some discreet dating.

Renee's Venus is also the astrological key to this year's big successes. By secondary progression, her Sun is sextile Venus, a fortuitous combination that often brings love and marriage. This aspect is still growing in power, indicating that Cinderella Man should do very well at the box office and increase her popularity. In four years her progressed Venus runs into Saturn, which will likely bring a major hurdle for her marriage.
