Bush Enters Danger Zone
Last week President Bush began spending some of his political
capital to promote changes in the Social Security program, one
which allows individuals to shift some of their payroll taxes
into a private account. Bush wants to bring his message directly
to the people in a campaign-styled pitch. "I'm going to spend
a lot of time traveling our country talking about the problem," he
said.
Astrologers might be concerned
about Bush's travel plans
since transiting Uranus
is approaching an opposition
to his Mars. As discussed
several times previously
in this column (most recently,
December 20, 2004), the
country is entering a dangerous
phase for the sitting President,
based on Neptune's hard
aspects to the U.S. Midheaven.
This cycle kicks in about
every 21 years, and Neptune
is now within effective
range.
The Uranus cycle is an
integral part of the Presidential
Death Cycle, and without
exception, every president
that has died in office
did so when Uranus was
in a mutable sign (Gemini,
Virgo, Sagittarius, and
Pisces). Uranus in mutable
signs is significant because
it makes hard aspects to
the U.S. eighth house,
the house of death. In
Bush's horoscope, transiting
Uranus is also in the eighth
house.
Transiting Uranus opposing
Bush's Mars can bring violent
attack from others. Security
teams need to be especially
alert in April when the
first opposition takes
place, and again in August.
Uranus to Mars tends to
be accompanied by extra
stress, which is dangerous
for anyone prone to a heart
attack. In an under-reported
story, Bush is apparently
wearing a medical device
for those in danger of
cardiac arrest.*
Condoleeza Rice, The New Face of American Diplomacy
Immediately after being confirmed, America's new Secretary of
State Condoleeza Rice set off on a whirlwind tour to Europe and
the Middle East. Along the way she made some pointed comments
about Iran's human rights violations and support of terrorism,
and noted that the U.S. is not about to attack Iran "at this
point in time", which made headlines across the global village.
Condoleeza Rice's rise
in the Bush administration**
can be attributed to her
powerfully placed Sun-Venus
conjunction at her Midheaven
(November 14, 1954; 11:37
am; Birmingham, AL), which
is currently being favorably
activated by a trine from
transiting Saturn (as well
as a trine by progressed
Mars). With five planets
and two asteroids located
in the ninth house, academia
and foreign policy are
naturals for her.
Since her Sun-Venus receives
squares from Pluto in the
seventh house of open enemies,
Ms. Rice has some powerful
opponents, both domestically
and internationally. This
Pluto is also opposed by
her first house Mars, so
she is not averse to taking
on her enemies, and may
even be driven to find
enemies to defeat.
The asteroid Ceres is major
feature of Rice's horoscope
since it's placed prominently
in Scorpio in her tenth
house of career. Ceres
by transit is currently
in the U.S. first house
(using the Scorpio Rising
U.S. horoscope), where
it formed an exact square
to the Midheaven on the
day she was confirmed.
Ceres, as a powerful feminine
archetype, represents America's
new face to the rest of
the world, and is personified
by Condoleeza Rice.
Steve Jobs, CEO of Pixar and Apple
Last
week Apple beat out Google to be the Number #1 brand name for the
year 2004, according to a poll among branding professionals. Apple's
innovative, incredibly popular iPod led to record breaking sales
gains and tripled AAPL's stock price. Number #5 on the list was
Pixar, the award-winning animated studio which has produced six
films that have collectively grossed over $3 billion to date.
The CEO of both Pixar and Apple
is Steve Jobs, who was born
with both his Sun and Moon
in visionary Pisces (February
24, 1955; 6:00 am; San Francisco).
While Pisces is often thought
of as being too flaky or soft
to be a CEO, according to a
Forbes survey, significantly
more American CEOs are Pisces
natives than any other sign.
Jobs' Mercury, the information
planet, is conjunct his Aquarius
Ascendant, tuning him into
the computer, information age.
His ruling planet is revolutionary
Uranus, which is given stability
and good luck by being conjunct
Jupiter and trine Saturn, but
a rebellious streak by the
square to Mars. The solid Apple
fan base loves his jabs at
the corporate world, which
has brought the company through
some hard times.
All that changed last year
with the introduction of the
iPod. At the time transiting
Uranus was forming a conjunction
with Jobs' Sun, vaulting him
back into the limelight with
the most successful new product
of 2004. Over the next year
(as his progressed Sun trine's
seventh house Pluto), Jobs
is poised to form a powerful
new alliance that will shake
up the PC market. Industry
analysts are forewarned.

March

Ceres is also prominently
featured in Bush's Inauguration
chart.
