The Noose Tightens
Saddam Hussein's two psychopathic sons were killed last week by U.S. special forces, and their bodies displayed and photographed for a skeptical Iraqi populace. Two days later army officials announced they had captured up to ten of Saddam's personal body guards, and said that Saddam himself has fewer chances of eluding Task Force 20, the secretive military unit assigned to track him down.
As described in NewsScope two weeks ago, Saddam's capture or death does seem imminent due to a confluence of astro-events, including an important Sun-Mars opposition during the last week of August that hits key planets in Saddam's horoscope. At the same time transiting Jupiter and Uranus oppose each other, which in itself heralds fast-paced, stunning or shocking developments in geopolitics.
If Saddam is killed or captured in about a month, we should find uniquely potent planetary indicators in Bush's horoscope to confirm the military and political victory. A Sun-Jupiter conjunction on August 22 is helpful, but the many astro-events in late August lead into a huge, once in a lifetime progression, namely Bush's progressed Midheaven, signifying his world status, will be forming a conjunction with Uranus.
Uranus in Bush's chart aligns with the U.S. Mars, and so signifies his personal connection to the nation's military. This aspect is exact in late October, but is already a dominant influence in his chart. It represents rapidly developing military events, which may very well include the capture of Saddam. Due to the eccentric, unexpected nature of Uranus, we may also see other less fortuitous developments. Keep an eye on North Korea...
Presidential Astrology Part 4: Dean, Edwards, and Graham
The candidate's ability to get his message to the American people has historically depended on an exact astrological connection to the U.S. Moon at 25 Aquarius. Among the declared Democratic candidates for president, only Bob Graham, John Edwards, and Howard Dean have a natal or progressed planet at 25 degrees.
Bob Graham is a Scorpio (November 9, 1936; Coral Gables, FL; time unknown), which by itself is a slight advantage in American politics. Of the 42 American presidents, five have been Scorpios, more than any other sign except Aquarius, which also has seen five presidents. Graham's only connection to the U.S. Moon is his natal Jupiter, located at 25 Sagittarius. This is slightly favorable.
John Edwards was born with his Sun in Gemini (June 10, 1953; 7:02 am; Seneca, SC). Until John F. Kennedy and George Bush Sr. were elected, the U.S. has had no Gemini presidents. However, in this age of mass media, being a Gemini is probably no longer a disadvantage. Edwards' key connection is his progressed Venus, which is at 25 Gemini, and favorably trine the U.S. Moon.
Howard Dean was born with his Sun at 25 Scorpio (November 17, 1948; 7:21 pm*; New York City), which is a very favorable placement in presidential astrology. His very being (the Sun) resonates strongly with the American people by virtue of the exact square to the U.S. Moon. Dean also has his progressed Pallas, the political asteroid, at 25 Taurus, a favorable second link to the U.S. Moon. These connections account for his sudden rise in the polls and his successful online fund raising. Based on their links to the U.S. Moon, Dean is the best choice.
Angelina Jolie Opens Pandora's Box
As the sequel to Lara Croft Tomb Raider opened last weekend, the film's edgy but beautiful star Angelina Jolie was making the TV circuit to help promote the film. In a variety of frank interviews, Jolie discussed her feud with Jon Voight, her father, her sudden and confusing divorce from Billy Bob Thornton, and the new love in her life, her adopted Cambodian boy.
Angelina Jolie was born a restless Gemini (June 4, 1975; 9:09 am; Los Angeles) with Venus rising in the nest-building sign of Cancer. Venus on the Ascendant is the gift of beauty, and with its square to Uranus, her beauty is unusual in its electric radiance. This Venus square Uranus often leads to sudden upsets in personal relationships, including with her father since Uranus is in the 4th house of the home.
Jupiter exactly conjunct her Midheaven is very favorable for developing a successful career. Yet can it really provide her with happiness since Jupiter squares Saturn in her 12th house? This Jupiter-Saturn square can swing between elation and depression. She woefully wonders what happened to her marriage, but if she had read NewsScope's June 19, 2001 edition, she would have seen it coming.
Transiting Saturn in Cancer is testing everyone's family dynamics, and for Jolie it's particularly maddening. As Saturn goes through her 12th house of the past and squares her Mars, she's re-visiting her relationship with the men in her life. Transiting Saturn remains in this degree area over the next year, describing a process that's bound to bring a lot of emotional pain and frustration, but hopefully a ray of hope through understanding.
