Top Five Astro-Events for the First Half of 2003
February 4 - Saturn squares the U.S. Neptune: This connection occurs again on March 11 after Saturn turns direct on February 22. These three dates mark high points in a phase of military uncertainty since the U.S. Mars and Neptune are square to each other. Gathering consensus of world or even domestic opinion is not likely for any U.S. military action.
February 16 - Jupiter opposite Neptune: This is the second of three oppositions between these two planets, and is likely to bring intense clashes between the world's geopolitical power centers. Military conflict and terrorism are likely since simultaneously Mars and Pluto are conjunct and opposing Saturn.
March 10 - Uranus enters Pisces: After spending seven years in technologically savvy Aquarius, Uranus now moves into the sign of mysticism and morality. Watch for moral uncertainty concerning new technologies, a pervasive air of secrecy, ideological fanaticism, and the return of the musical as a favorite cinematic genre.
May 16 - U.S. progressed Moon conjunct Mars: Along with the many other war indicators in 2003, this one ensures that the U.S. military industrial complex is active in global scenarios at this time. The U.S. Mars refers to manufacturing, especially in the automobile industry. Mars also rules the sixth house of health, so look for significant health legislation to be passed by Congress.
May 31 - Solar Eclipse in Gemini: This eclipse, one of four in 2003, is exceptional since it takes place on the U.S. Uranus. Sudden developments, unexpected changes are in order. On the plus side, anticipate exciting new technologies to be announced. Airline disasters are possible, and dramatic economic news, including major mergers, break-ups, bankruptcies, and acquisitions in aerospace, computers, and telecommunications.
Bush Prepares for War
Addressing 4,000 young soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, President Bush warned last week that he is ready to unleash the full force of the U.S. military against Saddam Hussein's regime. Bush said he has the moral imperative to strike if Saddam doesn't disarm. "We are ready. We're prepared," said Bush to a cheering audience.
George W. Bush's horoscope reflects the gathering military storm, as well as the uncertainty of his potential allies. Transiting Pluto is the lead indicator over the next few months, with its opposition to Bush's Uranus. Coincidentally, the first opposition is exact on January 27, the same date that U.N. weapons inspectors issue their report. Bush's Uranus represents his connection to the Pentagon since it's conjunct the U.S. Mars.
Pluto turns retrograde on March 22, and so remains in a long-term opposition to Bush's Uranus. The implication is that the Pentagon, under the Commander-in-Chief's direction, is preparing to enter Iraq as an occupation force, and not as a quick strike, military conquest. Bush's Mars, the ruler of his Midheaven, is undergoing major activation through 2004 (progressed Sun is conjunct Mars on June 6, 2004).
The downside for these developments is that transiting Neptune is in Bush's seventh house, and opposing his Mercury-Pluto. This connection reflects the doubt that military and political partners have since no secret weapons have been found. This Neptune also signifies Bush's interest in covert military operations, suggesting that a CIA-backed coup against Saddam is in the works, as transiting Neptune also squares Saddam's Sun.
Sydney Omarr Travels to the Next Galaxy
The most popular, widely read astrologer in the world died last Thursday following complications from a recent heart attack. Sydney Omarr's Sun Sign books have sold 50 million copies worldwide and his daily Horoscope column appeared in over 300 daily newspapers. He continued to write this column over the years even though he was blinded and paralyzed from the neck down by multiple sclerosis.
Sydney Omarr was born a creative Leo (August 5, 1926; 11:27 am; Philadelphia) with his Moon in sympathetic Cancer. This Sun-Moon combination expresses itself dramatically and confidently, and with heartfelt sensitivity to others. These qualities can also be seen in storyteller Garrison Keillor and singer Kenny Rogers who likewise have the Sun in Leo and Moon in Cancer.
Omarr's ruling planet is Venus (since he has Libra Rising), which is found in the ninth house of publishing. Venus is powerfully enhanced by an exact conjunction with Pluto, bringing him many adoring women, and allowing him to reach the masses through his writing. Venus in this position also governs celebrities, and Omarr was known as "counselor to the stars."
Omarr's Venus is further strengthened by a trine to Saturn, found in the second house of money. This connection favors the accumulation of great wealth through publishing, which he achieved by virtually single-handedly popularizing Sun Sign astrology. Omarr's syndicated column was valued by his readers, as one associate said, "not because they believed every word he wrote, but because it always contained threads of hope and encouragement."
