November Astrology Report 2004

November hosts 22 dynamic aspects: six squares, four Lunar occultations,
four ingresses, three stations, two conjunctions, one new and one
full Moon, and a day of quintiles. All in all, a busy month. I will
list the aspects sequentially, and delineate each group of aspects.
Retaining her morning star status until March 31, 2005, Venus dominates
the dynamic energy flow for the month in her own sign of dual nature,
until 11/22 when she defers to Mars, whose initiating energy works
to fill her needs. Her militant nature adds even more to the power
of Mars as they meet in a short embrace on 12/6. In addition to
this, on November first, the Sun and Pluto are parallel, as Pluto
solidifies its path in the Aries decanate of Sagittarius.
While
Sagittarius exemplifies the union of the human and the animal natures,
it also symbolizes humanness rising from the shoulders of animalness.
The duality of Sagittarius creates a forum for Pluto as it journeys
through the mutable fire sign. Pluto, responsible for the transformation
process and ruler of the underworld came into the upper world of
mundane reality to kidnap his bride through manipulation, creating
a marriage of the two worlds. Pluto‚s end justified the means,
however his bride did go willingly. The power of Pluto is such that
those he tempts seldom see beyond the threats or promises of the
present moment to the potential future consequences.
As Pluto continues this path, we
find ourselves actively and increasingly divided between two realities.
Truth becomes a personal issue; some people are attracted to one
reality and others are attracted to the opposite one. Sometimes
that division manifests within individuals, resulting in illness
or a deep rationalization of our values. Many times we are oblivious
to our states of mind, and unwilling to entertain any others. It
is up to each and every one of us to commit energy to the integration
and balance of opposites in our personal lives and within our society,
avoiding the polarization that weakens the unity that must be present
to support strength. With the shared declination position of Pluto
and the Sun at the beginning of November, I see this rather like
a „mutual reception‰, where Pluto is seen as tenanting
Scorpio, and the Sun is seen from a Sagittarius perspective. (Of
course, all the perceptions of astrological positions deal with
celestial latitude and declination as well as longitude ˆ too
long to cover here. *references on request.)
As Mercury enters its shadow on November 11, Uranus squares it
with a direct station. On November 21, Mercury (already in its
shadow) conjuncts the degree that Pluto will reach as it enters
its next shadow on December 7, the day that its ruler Jupiter is
occulted by the Moon. This connection over time may signal a fertile
ground for breaking old habit patterns, and finding ways to create
unity between the conscious and the unconscious. If we are to evolve
into a higher conscious state of being, an understanding of universal
law must be attained and invoked. Both Sagittarius and Scorpio
have their polarities. Sagittarius presents us with clues to an
evolutionary journey: to rise above its primitive animal nature
and embody the potential wisdom of the next stage of development ˆ not
an easy journey. Scorpio offers us a choice between flying high
with the eagle or associating with the scorpion, to devolve with
a slide to the darker side of life with the promise of an easy,
stress-free journey. The goal is to pull others up with us, and
not to abandon our goal by uniting in a lesser target. However
we view it, we are at a crossroads ˆ filled with many astrological
indicators. We must each decide how to build a future together.
Aspects: There are so many
aspects this month, that I have grouped them together for interpretation.
Shy grand quintile. (11/4)
The Symbology of the grand
quintile (last month‚s
report) showed how the energy of a configuration can be shared by all. A GQ
with a vacant spot (4 planets in search of a 5th) acts like a T-cross (3 planets
in search of a 4th), or a trine (2 planets in search of a 3rd) to make a „personal‰ configuration.
Those with planets near 15 Taurus can tap into the creative energies in a personal
manner. Conscious awareness avails these people with added dexterity, balance,
facility, and inner activity. All these qualities may be expressed through
existing talents and aptitudes.
Lunar occultations. (11/9, 11/10, 11/13) Emotional energy tends to interrupt
forward momentum of projects dealing with growth and expansion (Jupiter), love
and values (Venus), and courage and action (Mars). Last minute second thoughts
may cast doubt over projects concerning commerce, contracts or travel (Mercury)
avant-garde projects may be confronted with ridicule or reservation. Dealings
with others are likely to be abruptly suspended during these times. Plan ahead,
creating alternate options, or be prepared for delays.
Conjunctions. Intensity joins the energies of two ideas or perceptions, and
offers strength for beginning new missions, developments or ventures. Venus/Jupiter
(11/4) Expansion of values to include spiritual pursuits. Let imagination,
intuition and loving energy guide your steps to find fruition within several
days. Mercury/Pluto (11/20) Diplomacy and persuasive discussions meant to transform
current projects can be derailed by criticism, underdeveloped motivation or
premature action. Avoid jumping to conclusions, and hold to your principles.
Squares. November‚s challenges are many. Sun/Neptune/Moon (T-cross) (11/4).
A test of sensitivity through conscious awareness of moods and feelings of
others through new perspectives can show rewards within a week. Mercury/Uranus
Rx (11/6). New and cutting edge ideas can be communicated through support from
authorities or responsible people. Confrontations can delay progress, but patience
can bring ultimate success. Sun/Uranus (11/24). A crisis shows the need to
be consciously flexible with new or inventive disclosures. Becoming attuned
to current rhythms and cycles will lead to success. Venus/Saturn Rx (11/19).
Idealistic emotions can get in the way of you realizing your goals. Develop
solid values to support realistic life plans. Mars/Saturn (11/06). Relationships
will be tested to prove their stability. Initiate strong habits that support
responsibility to those you care for. Mars/Neptune (11/30). Lack of practical
plans test your resolve to keep your mind focused. Strengthen your mental processes
with meditation or some kind of discipline that unites the mind and the body.
Ingresses. Planets moving into new signs bring about new opportunities. Mercury/Sagittarius
(11/4). Sound thinking and common sense dealing with environmental concerns
is possible. Expansion of mental processes can be attained through self-discipline.
Mars/Scorpio (11/10). Powerful resources become available. A good time to support
women‚s issues. Take care to avoid impulsive behavior. Sun/Sagittarius
(11/21). This time of year it is important to take extra care of your health,
both mental and physical. Added claims to your time and your energy can deplete
your inner resources. Set aside some time for refreshing yourself. Venus/Scorpio
(11/22). Passion can be awakened through discovering new uses for past ideas,
or through reconnecting with people from your past. New connections with charismatic
personalities can be exciting.
Stations. Retrograde stations demand reconsiderations and can slow down a project‚s
momentum. Saturn (11/7). Just when you expect a breakthrough, changes in commitments
give you the need to review expected actions. You may find that more research
needs to be done before it is right for you. It may become appropriate for
someone else to continue the project. This is likely to be a time-consuming
effort. Mercury (11/30). Travel or business plans need to be revised. This
may be due to security or difficulty in fulfilling your goal. There is a possibility
of building a better plan through re-examination of your process and your goal.
Keep your options open and pay attention to details.
Direct stations usher in a time for gathering together information and gaining
new perspectives. Uranus (11/11). Review any unusual activities from June that
were delayed or blocked from completion. There may be a reversal of that energy,
and things may begin to fall into place and flow again. Make note of the status
of that project or endeavor in the time since then, and make that information
work for you.
Lunations and Plenilune. New Moon (11/12). Your peers may have unusual needs
and make unrealistic demands on you. To begin a new cycle, decide what you
are really responsible for, and discharge that duty in a kind and thoughtful
manner. West coast issues deal with personal plans that reflect your values,
and are compatible with those of a respected group of your peers. East coast
issues are all about your interaction with groups and their secrets or their
security regulations or policies. There is a connection with your career and
organizations that you espouse. Full Moon (11/26). Fulfillment comes through
gaining new perspectives on projects begun earlier this month. The key is to
focus on communication in relationships that have the potential to develop
and grow through a spiritual connection, or creative pursuits. West coast issues
include examining feelings and being sympathetic or sensitive to those you
care about. East coast issues deal with personal and shared values, and service
to that which has great meaning for you.

November Symbolism 2004
November was named for the 9th month of the Roman calendar. The dark face of
the Goddess was honored, as the portion of daily darkness increased. The wisdom
of the mature divinities, the dark goddesses, Hecate, Menat, Atropos, Lillith
and Cailleach were acknowledged as a necessary part of the life cycle on November
first, during the cross-quarter day, the festival of Samhain. This day also
marks the Christian feast of All Saints, when Christian heroes and heroines
are recognized and petitioned to assist mortals in their quest for a more blessed
existence, and November second honors All Souls who have departed physical
form. Many religions celebrate the Day of the Dead at the turn of the month.
The ancient Egyptians celebrated it in mid-November. November 7 is the traditional
beginning of the Festival of Plato, master philosopher and father of European
mysticism.
Early November's gemstone is the Aquamarine or Beryl. In the East, they are
revered as the stone of purity, given to the newly wedded to preserve and increase
their mutual love. Also the stone of the Seer and Mystic, it was said to enhance
visions. The wearer of these stones is assisted in finding hidden things. The
Sagittarius part of November favors the topaz. It is worn to radiate the gift
of light that dispels the darkness and ignorance that arises during the winter
quarter. The topaz is said to calm anger in the wearer. True and lasting friendship
is symbolized by the topaz, which is found in various colors ˆ most are
white, golden, pink, brown, and less often green, and black. First named Topazein,
when first found on the Island of Topazos in the Red Sea, meaning: „to
seek after‰. Pliny, the Elder called it „the Stone of Strength‰.
As the Sun enters Sagittarius on November 21st, we celebrate the festival of
the Roman Diana (Greek Artemis), goddess of the Moon and the hunt. This coincides
with the celebration of Cecilia, patron saint of music and of the blind. And
November 25 marks the day of honor for Persephone (Kore), Demeter‚s daughter
and queen of the underworld during the three dark months of the year.
Persephone was kidnapped from Demeter (Earth Mother goddess) by Hades (Pluto)
from the Earth‚s surface. Because she took in nourishment (a bite of
pomegranate) in Hades‚ kingdom, she was to remain in the underworld during
the three dark months of the year, providing it with light and warmth. For
the other nine months she lived above ground with her mother. Her story relates
to the fecundity of the Earth in its growing season and the life cycle of death,
gestation and rebirth. Pomegranate fruit is mentioned in the Bible as one of
the blessed species of the Land of Israel (Deuteronomy 8:8). Pomegranates decorated
the columns in the Temple in Jerusalem, and the robes of the high priests.
Jewish tradition likens the pomegranate, which has 613 seeds, to the human
body, which has 613 nerves, and the Torah, which contains 613 commandments.
In numerology, 613=1, the number of new beginnings. The pomegranate symbolizes
fertility and the potential beginning of life in many different cultures and
religions.
Some of the plants of Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius, have leaves that are
large and conspicuous (fig, olive, grape), and fruit that is edible and nutritious
(acorn, beechnut); and many have a pleasant odor (mulberry, clove, nutmeg and
marjoram). The showy Horsetail, an herb high in silica, is a good builder of
bones. Sagittarius rules the thighs, the thickest bones in the human body.
November Sagittarius is a time for running, stretching the legs, getting to
the top of the next hill to see what‚s on the other side.
November is a month of remembrance and thanksgiving for Universal bounty. Veterans
Day reminds us of those who have served the ideals of their country.
October 15 through November 14 marks the Islamic month of fasting (every day
from sunrise to sunset), Ramadan. The beginning of this moveable feast is determined
by the first official sighting of the crescent Moon. This commemorates Muhhamed‚s
reception of the divine revelation as recorded in the Qur‚an. The word
Ramadan is derived from the Arabic root word ramida, meaning intense scorching
heat and dryness, or ramdaa, meaning Sun-baked sand. This refers to a heating
sensation in the stomach, a symptom of great thirst. Heat represents the energy
that shapes and molds all matter, just as the ritual of abstinence reshapes,
reforms, and remolds the believer‚s physical and spiritual behavior throughout
the warmth of the conscious experience of the daylight hours.
Gifts of light radiate from the sky in the direction of the constellation Leo
between November 19th and 20th. The Leonids meteor showers are a part of the
tail of Comet Tempel-Tuttle. Visible in the +5, 6, 7, and 8 time zones peak
after 10:42 PM PST at the eastern horizon, look for them radiating from the
constellation Leo, near the bright star Regulus. The 3rd quarter Moon will
have set, creating exceptional conditions for viewing. The gifts of Light symbolizing
intuition and creativity accessed from the Collective Consciousness*** can,
at this time be retained as a permanent part of your life.
***The Collective Consciousness embraces current shifting ideas and values
and their initial conditions, and is a resource for our growth.
Sunday, November 28 is the beginning of Advent, which describes four weeks
until the eve of Christmas. It is the Christian time of preparation for celebrating
the birth of Christ. The lighting of special candles is a part of their ceremonies
to celebrate the return of the Light of the World.
Thanksgiving takes place on Thursday, Jupiter‚s day when the Sun is in
the Sagittarius decanate of Sagittarius, whose key word is devotion. That decanate
is pictured in the sky by the constellation Lyra, the harp. Harps were used
in ancient times for giving praise to the gods of plenty. Jupiter, ruler of
Sagittarius symbolizes abundance of harvest. Livestock were sacrificed with
ceremony in November, because they could not be kept alive through the winter
months. Prayers of thanksgiving were given in most ancient religions during
this time.
Sagittarian prayers are grand in scope, and as powerful as the arrow of the
centaur in finding its mark. At this time I ask that you join me in a dedicated
focus to dissolve the growing cloud of rage that encircles our northern hemisphere.
It feeds on fear and guilt and hate, and only love can dissolve it. Together
we can image a laser beam striking and disbursing that dark cloud, freeing
Earth‚s inhabitants to pursue more loving goals.
