November hosts 21 dynamic aspects: nine squares, four ingresses, two conjunctions, one occultation, one opposition, one Ending Shadow Point (ESP), a direct station, and a Solar and a Lunar Eclipse. November is an intense, powerful month that begins with vigorous energy flows split between a potential for harmonious domestic energies, and intellectual support for initiative and achievement. These energies quickly pick up momentum as light is shed on current processes, and it becomes apparent that all courses of action are interconnected. Towards the middle of the month procedures dealing substantially with comprehension and knowledge become enhanced. At that time emotional focus shifts, and support is available from different sources with divergent perspectives. At months end emotional and organizational support comes together. Challenge and change are the main bywords of November, and those not willing to meet and initiate such energies will be left behind.
11/1 Venus squares Uranus 28:55 Scorpio/Aquarius, 4:42 PM. Greatly suppressed tensions are present. We find renewed challenges to authorities who would limit freedom and self-determination. Remain loyal and steadfast to your values, and watch for opportunities to present your case logically and without emotion. You are more likely to achieve your goals if you remain calm.
11/2 Venus enters Sagittarius, 1:42 PM. We may now build and expand our value systems to include the similar values of others by finding where we agree in principle. Refining the details to truly reflect our value principles is a challenging task for all. What an idea!
Sun squares Neptune 10:26 Scorpio/Aquarius, 10:54 PM. Here is a challenge of a spiritual nature a need for understanding. Idealism and faith in goodness and right action can support you in a crisis or a showdown if you keep your confidence level high. Enlist the assistance of others of like mind, especially those who are willing to support you in this challenge. On another level, creative expression of inner drives and aspirations can bring success, especially if you work with developed talents.
11/7 Mars leaves Shadow (ESP) 10:08 Pisces, 3:50 PM. Now we may gather and utilize all the information we have been privy to during the past four and a half months while Mars sensitized the first ten degrees of Pisces. Many latent and prospective projects will be triggered, bringing them into focus during the November Dancing T-Cross.
11/8 Uranus turns direct 28:54 Aquarius, 4:44 AM. We can begin to compile and fathom information about timing experiences and out of the box thinking gleaned between February 19 and the present as a part of our remedial learning processes, especially in the areas of technology and self-determination.
Lunar Eclipse 16:13 Taurus/Scorpio, west coast 5:13 PM; east coast 8:13 PM. This Lunar eclipse completes a Grand sextile with a 6-degree orb that includes Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Chiron, and Mars. Personal projects and other individual endeavors take priority. Opportunities arise that can interface with commercial, inter-cultural, public or other group activities. The synergy between loyalty, purpose, nurturing, responsibility, expansion, and the seeds of new beginnings can create an environment for success. The grand sextile also includes a series of oppositions, which points out a need for the constructive use of cooperation and perspective, or a conscious agreement to finish and release previously untenable projects. The Sun and Moon in their eclipse give us the opportunity to see how spirit and ego can work together. The Mars/Jupiter opposition shows us how it is possible to reach goals when we grow together in mutually agreed upon directions. The Saturn/Chiron opposition gives us a role model of loyalty and strength and reliability. Saturn, the only retrograde planet in the heavens reminds us that tradition and past accomplishments are resources that can be drawn upon in planning the future, and the opposition from Chiron hints that activist principles need to reflect the larger picture, and adhere to principles of nurturing and protection for all levels of participation. Each of the outer planets forms a wide square aspect to inner personal planets. Much cooperative individual design can present models for creative work, and in connecting in a dynamic manner to social or cultural group energy; this configuration can be a transformative experience for many people of different expressions. This day has been termed a Harmonic Concordance, which astrologically seems to relate to a sixth harmonic well-balanced agreement between disparate entities. To be successful, all participants must broaden their awarenesses to embrace the magical YOD of Neptune=Jupiter/Saturn: realization through opportunity and adjustment. I say magical because our shared energies support us, however the Universe seems to be telling us all to raise our consciousness to a higher level than we project at the present time.
11/11 Mercury squares Uranus 28:54 Scorpio/Aquarius, 6:04 AM. Time has passed since your values were questioned. If you have not achieved reassurance, it is time to vocalize your concepts.
Mercury enters Sagittarius 11:20 PM. A striving for truth and justice a great attraction for deep meaning and values is possible, should we choose to embrace them. Misunderstood urges for pleasure seeking can derail our paths.
11/12 Venus squares Mars 12:13 Sagittarius/Pisces, 9:27 AM. Today is the beginning of a Dancing Mutable TCross (DTC) that encompasses 1219 degrees of Virgo/Sagittarius/Pisces. For the next two weeks, Mars and Jupiter define an axis with a tension-filled platform that can target growth and development of new perspectives. Venus, Pluto, Mercury, and Moon/Sun provide direct interactive input at this time. The Venus/Mars section of the dance provides a challenge in consciousness - we may want too much, which elicits an ascetic response: abundance does not need to include excess. Perhaps values espoused by the spiritual warriors within us all need to be invoked?
11/14 Venus squares Jupiter 15:13 Sagittarius/Virgo, 7:33 PM. Part of the DTC. Not willing to settle for modest desires, we take our appetites to the abundance specialist, only to be reminded that discernment needs to be set in place. There are two parts to be considered in desire: appropriateness and significance.
Venus conjoins Pluto 18:52 Sagittarius, 5:52 PM. Part of the DTC. This brings to mind the story of Persephone in the underworld (below). Willingness and intensity can sometimes blind us to the larger picture. The willingness comes from the need to fulfill ones perceived purpose, and the intensity from a lack of perspective, and a misreading of timing cues.
11/20 Mars opposes Jupiter 15:56 Pisces/Virgo, 5:57 AM. Part of the DTC. A spiritual warrior questions all challenges, and creates a pathway to follow that leads to right action and honor.
11/21 Sun squares Uranus 28:58 Scorpio/Aquarius, 9:14 AM. A sense of rebellion against limitations, inhibitions, and reforms. Each of us needs to examine these seeming blocks, and look at the principles involved. Perhaps some adjustments may be in order that can satisfy all involved.
11/22 Sun enters Sagittarius 9:43 AM. Long-term goals are identified and solidified.
Mercury squares Jupiter 16:15 Sagittarius/Virgo, 7:09 PM. Part of the DTC. Energetic participants spur the need to communicate values, and convert basic ideas and processes to usable projects.
11/23 Solar Eclipse 1:14 Sagittarius, west coast 2:59 PM; east coast 5:59 PM. Over 2,000 years ago the imperial archers of the first Chinese emperor, Quin Shihuangdi fired their rocket-assisted arrows at the sky. They sought to drive away the celestial dragon which was eating the Sun. It worked.* So often we give emphasis to appearances, and miss the conceptual significance of an event. This Eclipse can align our nurturing characteristics with our true inner natures. The close alignment creates intensity without perspective. Without perspective, we need to enlist our intuitive qualities, and enable them to overrule the appearances, which can be deceiving. Eclipses interrupt the normal energy flow that we experience and allow us to institute new patterns, or to just try something different. Often a different focus is all we need to achieve victory. *From an article by Dr. J.R. Crittenden Schmitt.
Mercury squares Mars 17:43 Sagittarius/Pisces, 7:15 PM. Part of the DTC. This is the last chance to dialog on this issue with the spiritual warrior within. There is great power in determination, especially if there is an understanding and an agreement of the goal, and the knowledge that consciousness materializes into form as a result of shared focus.
11/24 Mercury conjoins Pluto 19:07 Sagittarius, 6:14 PM. Part of the DTC. The power of persuasion can be added to the process, and if one speaks through the needs of the heart, it becomes even more compelling. Honest dealings create lasting bonds.
Moon occults Mercury 19:11 Sagittarius, 7:17 PM. Part of the DTC. Last minute second thoughts may arise. Address any reluctances as real issues. Avoid assuming that its just imagination important issues are often decided on misinformation, and its important to have clarity for any agreement.
11/26 Mars squares Pluto 19:11 Pisces/Sagittarius, 3:22 PM. Last part of the DTC. Conscious decisions direct power towards goals set forth earlier this month. There may always be a slight feeling of a work in progress, as changes in venue or changes in associates affect possible outcomes. The ability to carry projects through to fruition depends on those who have alternative plans available.
Venus enters Capricorn 5:07 PM. Reliability and flexibility are important, as new responsibilities are revealed. Opportunities for new artistic expressions are also revealed.
November Symbolism 2003
November was named for the 9th month of the Roman calendar. The dark face of the Goddess was honored, as the portion of daily darkness increased. The wisdom of the mature divinities, the dark goddesses, Hecate, Menat, Atropos, Lillith and Cailleach were acknowledged on November first, during the cross-quarter day, the festival of Samhain. This day also marks the Christian feast of All Saints, when Christian heroes and heroines are recognized and petitioned to assist mortals in their quest for a more blessed existence, and November second honors All Souls who have departed physical form. Many religions celebrate the Day of the Dead at the turn of the month. The ancient Egyptians celebrated it in mid-November. November 7 is the traditional beginning of the Festival of Plato, master philosopher and father of European mysticism.
As the Sun enters Sagittarius on November 22nd, we celebrate the festival of the Roman Diana (Greek Artemis), goddess of the Moon and the hunt. This coincides with the celebration of Cecilia, patron saint of music and of the blind. And November 25 marks the day of honor for Persephone (Kore), queen of the underworld during the three dark months of the year.
Persephone was kidnapped from her mother, Demeter (Earth Mother goddess) by Hades (Pluto) from the Earths surface. Because she took in nourishment (a bite of pomegranate) in Hades kingdom, she was to remain in the underworld during the three dark months of the year, providing it with light and warmth. For the other nine months she lived above ground with her mother. Her story relates to the fecundity of the Earth in its growing season and the life cycle of death, gestation and rebirth. Pomegranate fruit is mentioned in the Bible as one of the blessed species of the Land of Israel (Deuteronomy 8:8). Pomegranates decorated the columns in the Temple in Jerusalem, and the robes of the high priests. Jewish tradition likens the pomegranate, which has 613 seeds, to the human body, which has 613 nerves, and the Torah, which contains 613 commandments. In numerology, 613=1, the number of new beginnings. The pomegranate symbolizes fertility and the potential beginning of life in many different cultures and religions.
Some of the plants of Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius, have leaves that are large and conspicuous (fig, olive, grape), and fruit that is edible and nutritious (acorn, beechnut); and many have a pleasant odor (mulberry, clove, nutmeg and marjoram). The showy Horsetail, an herb high in silica, is a good builder of bones.
Sagittarius rules the thighs, the thickest bones in the human body. November Sagittarius is a time for running, stretching the legs, getting to the top of the next hill to see whats on the other side.
Early November's gemstone is the Aquamarine or Beryl. In the East, they are revered as the stone of purity, given to the newly wedded to preserve and increase their mutual love. Also the stone of the Seer and Mystic, it was said to enhance visions. The wearer of these stones is assisted in finding hidden things. The Sagittarius part of November favors the topaz. It is worn to radiate the gift of light that dispels the darkness and ignorance that arises during the winter quarter. The topaz is said to calm anger in the wearer. True and lasting friendship is symbolized by the topaz, which is found in various colors most are white, golden, pink, brown, and less often green, and black. First named Topazein, when first found on the Island of Topazos in the Red Sea, meaning: to seek after. Pliny, the Elder called it the Stone of Strength.
October 26 through November 24th marks the Islamic month of fasting (every day from sunrise to sunset), Ramadan. Its beginning is determined by the first sighting of the crescent Moon. This commemorates Muhhameds reception of the divine revelation as recorded in the Quran. The word Ramadan is derived from the Arabic root word ramida, meaning intense scorching heat and dryness, or ramdaa, meaning Sun-baked sand. This refers to a heating sensation in the stomach, a symptom of great thirst. Heat represents the energy that shapes and molds all matter, just as the ritual of abstinence reshapes, reforms, and remolds the believers physical and spiritual behavior throughout the warmth of the conscious experience of the daylight hours.
Sunday, November 30 is the beginning of Advent, which runs until December 24. It is the Christian time of preparation for celebrating the birth of Christ. The lighting of special candles is a part of their ceremonies to celebrate the return of the Light of the World.
Gifts of light radiate from the sky in the direction of the constellation Leo between November 13th and 23rd. The Leonids meteor showers are a part of the tail of Comet Tempel-Tuttle. They peak this year on November 13th and 14th, and are best viewed in the eastern and western Pacific. Look for them in the hours before dawn radiating from the constellation Leo, near the bright star Regulus. The waning gibbous Moon may reduce their viewing numbers. However, a waning crescent Moon on November 19th will not interfere with Europe and North America viewing larger fireballs near twilight. Intuition and creativity accessed from the collective consciousness** can, at this time be retained as a permanent part of your life.
**I view Jungs Collective Unconscious as a deep level of archetypal images, and the Collective Consciousness as a shared consciousness that embraces current shifting ideas and values.
November is a month of remembrance and thanksgiving for Universal bounty. Veterans Day reminds us of those who have served the ideals of their country. Thanksgiving takes place on Thursday, Jupiters day when the Sun is in the Sagittarius decanate of Sagittarius, whose key word is devotion. That decanate is pictured in the sky by the constellation Lyra, the harp. Harps were used in ancient times for giving praise to the gods of plenty. Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius symbolizes abundance of harvest. Livestock were sacrificed with ceremony in November, because they could not be kept alive through the winter months. Prayers of thanksgiving were given in most ancient religions during this time.
Sagittarian prayers are grand in scope. At this time I ask that you join me in a dedicated focus to dissolve the growing cloud of rage that encircles our northern hemisphere. It feeds on fear and guilt and hate, and only love can dissolve it. Together we can image a laser beam striking and disbursing that dark cloud, freeing Earths inhabitants from a debilitating sense of rage.
